What to do with Anderson

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:49 pm

The guys got some talent but injuries held him back last year and the emergence of Dany Green and his cold shooting has basically relegated him to the end of the bench this year. Once Manu and Ford get healthy he's going to get zero minutes and I don't see him getting many minutes in the future.

So the question is what should we do with him. Do you think he has any trade value? Or should we just hang onto him and see what happens?

I agree he wont get any minutes once Manu is back, however I think his trade value is too low to bother trading him as a stand alone player, you'd only likely get a 2nd round pick back or a player of similar output IMO.

I think he's more valuable holding onto and seeing how he develops. The only way I'd trade him currently is in a package deal with other players / picks.

His trade value wouldn't be very high, as mentioned above no more than a 2nd round pick. I like him, he provides depth and you know we're always going to have someone hobbled. Injuries derailed what was becoming a decent rookie campaign for him and this year he just hasn't found the minutes to prove himself. I say hang onto him, he's worth more to us than a low pick.

I assume he would be worth a second-round pick at the end of the season as well (even if he doesn't improve) so we lose nothing in holding on to him right now. With the tight schedule, you never know when you will have to go even deeper in that bench and I really had hopes on him becoming a productive player. The start of his rookie season was promising and I would like to give him another chance.

I rather we keep him. I think Anderson just needs playing time. He showed some aggresiveness looking for his shots but I think he's just not at that level yet offensively. He was sort of doing things that he probably can't do. It doesn't look like his ball handling was advanced enough to really just go by people. He didn't show an ability to finish at the rim or enough athleticism. At times, he was forcing a three point shot too. I like him as a one or two dribble pull up jumper type shooter, other than that, i think he's doing a little too much.

But it's still too early to give up on him. I think even if we want to trade him, we wait until his third year.

It doesn't make any sense to not pick his 3rd year option. He is cheap and it's not like he is a lazy bum. He is a glue guy and he works hard.
He was the 1st option in his college team and he had a lot of freedom to make the plays. He needs playing time, he needs to shoot the ball with confidence again. I say just give the boy some time. He was injured last season and in this season his shot is off. He needs time to learn our system and some confidence to make open shots.
He will be fine. I still trust him and i still believe in his potential.

What do you guys think about trying to make a deal like the Grizz and Sixers did early this year (Henry for Speights). I'd love to try and flip Anderson for a guy like Larry Sanders.

I remember Sanders getting a triple double in his rookie year and i thought this dude would be a beast. After that he was really off the radar and he is barely part of the Bucks rotation right now. I wonder what happened to him.

His offensive game is basically non-existent and the Bucks have a very deep front court so he tends to get left out of the rotation.

WOW

You guys did not pick up his option for his 3rd year. Is there anything wrong with Anderson? I mean, medically wrong ?

There's nothing wrong with James Anderson medically. It has everything to do with Dany Green being a far better player.
