I'm sure you guys read and I've lost the link anyways. Thoughts? I'd love him here. Yes, he's overweight, but nothing bad can come from this signing. As far as I remember, Diaw was a very good low post defender. We could sure use another big man and his midrange shooting could be reminsicent of what Dice used to give us. Good low post defense, midrange shooting, passing, and generally smart plays.

I don't think we'll make a trade just for the sake of it. I think Pop already mentioned something like that. We're second in the western conference so why alter our roster. If we want to get Diaw who do we give up ?

Furthermore I don't want anyone from the Bobcats roster. Diaw is also already 30 years old.

Well RJ would have to be the player going back. But from what i've seen of Diaw this year he's looked very bad, he is a talented player but his conditioning is just terrible.

When focused and on a good team, he can be a very effective versatile player. He showed this under D'Antoni in PHX. But yeah he's looked awful this season. Maybe a change of scene will fix his game.

What I read is that Diaw is an expiring and will likely be bought out by Charlotte. There was a comment from Tony Parker about him wanting Diaw to come here if that were to happen. So it's not via trade. Diaw has a 9 mil contract, we wouldn't be able to make a trade work. So it's just Diaw for the minimum. Much like when we got Drew Gooden.

I'm sure Diaw will be bought out and I think he could help this team.

The main problem we have at Charlotte is that he is our most skilled player and we want him to be the leader and main scorer. But that just isn't him, he would much rather pass the ball. Its frustrating as you will see him pull of some skilful moves to score but then next time pass it away.

He is an excellent passer, especially to other big men inside (he was a big reason for Kwame's "revived" career he was getting spoon fed under the basket) and he can hit the 3point shot. He is also a solid defender but a pretty crappy rebounder.

We need more from him but you guys can cover his deficiencies well and just allow him to be an asset for his strengths. We shall see I guess.

The addition of SJAX and if they could get Diaw to sign would get the Spurs to the Finals against the Heat. Book it. Diaw would be this teams Robert Horry.

Diaw would be a solid pick up for the spurs.. but my hopes that he would go back to Phoenix hehe. Good luck.

I think Diaw is better with Duncan in the starting unit, but I don't think the team should tinker with what's working. Blair has looked good with Duncan this season generally providing us with hustle plays and assure us that we start the game with energy. I want Diaw taking Bonner's minutes which means he comes off the bench with Splitter and plays some with Duncan. Blair, while a starter, never played much anyways. Basically plays 1st and 3rd quarters.

I love the pickup for us. He brings that dynamic super skilled 4 man that we've needed for a while. Pops seems to love that small lineup and Diaw is the perfect addition to it.

Does this mean Bonner's riding pine the rest of the year? You'd assume he's the odd man out now.

Good, GOOD signing... I didn't expect us to sign anyone else after Mills - but this is a nice surprise to find out just a few mins ago

Great signing for us. Really deep at in the front court. Diaw should provide us with a stretch 4 and an extra creator on the floor seeing as he is a great passer.
Should fit in nicely with TP.

It may be good if Diaw shows up for the playoffs because you can't rely on regular season stat padding scrubs like Bonner/Blair as your bigs. We all remember how that went last season when Blair was getting murdered everytime he was on the court by Randolph, Gasol, even Tony Allen got into the paint at will. Especially when other teams are licking their lips when they see a 6'6 center posing scrub Blair come on the court, because he's a liability offensively and defensively especially against teams with legit bigs(Memphis, Lakers, OKC, etc).

And you can't just rely on Bonner's 3's in the playoffs because that's when everyone steps their 3 point defense up and that's where Bonner chokes. I hope the Spurs become legit contenders with Diaw, but I think they should try to get another good big and be scary. For now, they can start moving toward a Diaw/Duncan and Splitter/Bonner rotation with Blair as the odd man out but Diaw is still not a true pf/center.

I don't understand the hate on Matt Bonner. He's a useful big, even on contenders, but the way Popovich used him is wrong that's all, way too many minutes and responsibility on Bonner. He should be used like Korver/Novak/other 3 point specialists who play the 4 and can't defend are used, as a 15 min spark of the bench.

I think the real problem is the 6'6 Dejuan Blair with poor bbiq trying to play center where he gets blocked everytime he enters the paint, and needs to have a open shot set up from Parker/Ginobli to be useful at all offensively, and he can't defend for crap and makes every legit big look like a MVP. I watch the Spurs as one of my favorite teams, and finally this year are people starting to realize Blair is a trash scrub who would be a 3rd string at best on any other team.

I agree on Bonner... from 2008-2011... he was used too much as a leading big man player... Bonner's a big foward that can shoot the three, hustle and use his smarts, and occasionally score on drives.... below-average rebounder consistenly and can't be counted on as a main defender in a big man rotation.

Hopefully Blair can play better now that he has more experience and more help on the inside with longer, bigger SFs and Splitter and Diaw... depending how the rotation in the playoffs goes.
