Trade Rumors: Green out, Josh Howard in

Post#1 » by co_laper » Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:46 am

I also read about this in hoopshype. Sure it's just a rumor, but what you guys think? I think it was a three team trade but that's basically our part of the deal. Green out, Howard in. I don't believe the salaries match thou...

Me, I don't like it. I'm beginning to like Green. And Howard is not what he once was. For one, I don't remember Howard having 3 point range. He was always a slasher/midrange type. Used to be a very strong rebounder/defensive player pre-injury. Right now, what he is sounds like a worse version of Kawhi.

Howard's not a good 3PT shooter - but he is not unreliable there... he's a mediocre 3PT shooter I'd say...

But why trade Green now? He's young and active and can score a bit, has shown an impressive shooting touch, and an ability to handle the ball on a consistent basis. Plays hard consistently, is one heck of a defender.

Wouldn't really get the trade... Howard I am not down on, I still like him in general, but he seems kinda redundant on this team, unless we just want a more experienced wing with multi-skill.

Do we want more scoring reliability with maybe Manu losing it some now? I just wouldn't really get it from a significant stand-point... Green's more important.

I don't trust hoopshype at all and with the way Green's been playing it makes no sense to deal him for Howard who's shown that he's pretty much done so far this year. Green's a great defender, decent scorer and he's brings a ton of energy to the floor.

Not a fan of Howard at all. I don't see the point of trading out a younger player with great potential either.

Sounds like a waste. Green helps our backcourt depth, and Josh Howard imo isn't really that great anymore. Hasn't been for like 3-4 years. If this was James Anderson for Howard, I'd say sure. But Green? Uhm. . .he's decent on both ends of the floor, is cheap, young, has had some good games this year, is quick, and already knows the system.

Doesn't make much sense to me, all Howard has over green is size.

Actually he has been pretty unreliable there. Since '09, he's shot under 27% from three each season, and is at 23% this year. in other words, he doesn't even qualify as a 3pt shooter anymore. He's just a guy who takes threes that shouldn't be.

Well, I'm not gonna count his injury plagued time with WAS, but didn't realize he was that off this year from 3P. A decreased role and slowing down from injury I guess has hurt him.

Yeah man it's no real loss to us. Only way I would've taken Howard is for a scrub we didn't even want like Anderson. Howard isn't worth giving any real value for. He's just the kinda guy who belongs on lottery teams for a payday since his game isn't really championship caliber.
