This is a testament to the fact that Popovic is the greatest basketball coach of all time. Not only does Popovich affect the mentality and ability of his players, he educates each and everyone of his coaching staff. If you think about it, most of Popovich's coaching products have been successful too! Rivers is an NBA Champion, Del Negro certainly isn't the best coach, but he's gotten the Clippers to a high level. Mike Brown's Cavs, Avery's Dallas and Monty's Hornets all where great, well oiled machines of basketball.

I wouldn't call Williams' Hornets a well-oiled machine... hehe

But, they were a well-coached team that used their abilities at a max-level for what they had in 2011.

Scott coached the 2008 Hornets, who were quite good.

Put it like this, Ballings.

That team was a well oiled machine, only problem was that machine was an outdated model.

Its just a testament to how highly regarded this franchise is around the league.

I hate to say it but Popovich belongs to another tree. Larry Brown.

Larry Brown taught Pop. His coaching tree is even greater.

Don't forget. Pitino and Calipari coached under him also.

After they left LB they both went on and took over college basketball.

As much as I dislike the way LB will ugly up a game you would have to give him his props for Popovich.

Pop is the most prolific branch of the Larry Brown tree.

I thought Coach Bud would have a better chance of landing a coaching gig this summer than Vaughn. I really didn't expect this at all.

It seems like Bud is waiting for Pops to retire so he can take over the Spurs. He's had plenty of offers in the past and he's turned them all down.

Yep. Bud is defiantly going to be our next coach when we start our rebuilding process.

I agree one of the all time greats and on all fronts holding the clip board, talking to the press, handling FO and winning with a small market and low draft picks year after year. Class act all the way around that being said what would your top five look like? Doesnt have to be in order but what asst. Coachs do you see getting the next shot.

Turned them all down? Where did you hear that? I don't remember any news about Bud turning teams down. I don't even remember Bud being a top candidate for a coaching job other than the Warriors job last year which Mark Jackson won, not Bud declined.

Anyways, what a year to be in the Spurs FO? Ferry got hired. Vaughn got hired. Now Dennis Lindsey got hired.
