Where: STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, CA

Starting Lineups:

PF - Tim Duncan
C - DeJuan Blair

Lakers:
PG - Steve Blake
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Metta World Peace
PF - Pau Gasol
C - Dwight Howard

Well tonight's going to be a huge game for a ton of different reasons.

After punting Mike Brown after 5 games the Lakers found a new bench boss in Mike D'Antoni, but D"Antoni is currently recovering from knee surgery and won't be behind the bench tonight.

But all coaching drama aside this is huge game for us, the Lakers despite their play to start the regular season are one of if not the most talented team in the west and they're more than likely going to end up as a top 3 team in the west and win against them now could mean a lot for us down the road.

Go Spurs!!

I'm still glad Lakers didn't get Phil back. D'Antoni and his offense is so wrong for a lot of reasons.

As for the game, I say we win.

I'm really curious as to how the Lakers offense will look like for this game. I mean, the acting head coach is still Bernie. The Offensive Coordinator is still Jordan. I'm thinking, they'll still be running Princeton for this game. But as players, knowing that you already have a coach in place that runs nothing like Princeton, instead big on early offense and pick and rolls, how do you end up playing?

And Steve Blake is out, so that brings Duhon and Morris to play extensive minutes at PG.

Parker also is back for this game and played quite awful the last 2 games, so I'm expecting him to have a big game today. Big problem is that this is in LA. Should be a really close game and I think Spurs steal this one.

For what I know, Parker should be fine playing mostly with his J, these "new" Lakers hasnt been great PnR defenders. Just an impression, stats might tell an opposite truth.

I guess Ducan will have some trouble with Gasol and/or Howard guarding him, so I expect more scoring action by the other players

A great win and a great way to end our 4-game mini road trip. We won two really hard-fought games @ Portland and LA.

The Lakers looked good at times (obviously Kobe was a beast) and made me wonder whether Bernie Bickerstaff is not a better option than Mike D'Antoni. Probably the problem with Bickerstaff is that he is not this big name you'd want managing those egos and I realize he has only coached them in 3 games after an abysmal 1-4 start so it's not like he achieved something extraordinary but still, Mike D'Antoni's style is flawed and I can't see it working with the Lakers.

(Not that I care too much about the Lakers, just something I wanted to share my opinion about.)

Despite the win, there really wasn't much to like about that game guys..

The Lakers were off in a lot of ways. Other than Kobe, who actually played well for them? Pau and Dwight didn't. Their PG play was extremely awful without Nash and Blake. They had absolutely nothing going right other than Kobe and we had to have a big shot at the end to win it.

Tim Duncan, like most post player, have trouble posting up guys who are bigger, stronger, and quicker than him. He had 18 points on 19 shots. Hardly efficient. I couldn't recall TD scoring on any post up opportunities. He's doing alright on pull up jumpers and pick and roll plays, but his low efficiency scoring wise in this game was the result of Dwight's defense.

Parker wasn't efficient either offensively. He got 19 points on 18 shots. To get some comparison, Parker last year averaged 18 points on 15 shots. But I thought Parker was more aggresive attacking the paint this time around. Manu's issue is almost the same with Parker. Lakers' biggest advantage is their length and it shows a lot of times when Parker and Manu tries to attack the paint.

Spurs played Tim and Tiago together a lot on this game. While I personally love what they bring defensively as far as controlling the boards and defending two post players like Dwight and Gasol, it's in their offense that shows a big problem. Tiago can't go outside, so he's stuck in the paint. That makes Tim almost always a jumpshooter. Even when he post, Gasol is too nearby because Splitter is getting ready to crash the glass.

The 2nd unit frontcourt looks like a mess too with Diaw and Blair together to form a short duo that isn't physical enough.

Also another game I can't stand seeing Gary Neal play PG especially after him launching a three pointer off a pick and roll early in the shotclock. I was glad he didn't play the rest of the game with Pop going with Patty instead, who btw played well. Neal at SG is the only way we can get the most of Neal. Neal gets better shots off picks and curls. He's shooting it closer a bunch of times. And usually he has the defender off balance. Neal is just a SG. Please Pop, stop experimenting.

Anyways, I thought we stole a game from LA, and I guess that's all anyone can ask for. It's just that I can't be overly encouraged by this win because I felt it wasn't much of anything we did, but more from them not doing things right yet.
