Re: GT: Spurs vs. Magic
This will be fun to watch. I watch a Magic game a few days back and saw basically a worse version of our offense, but they ran the same exact thing to ours.
Basically, in their starting lineup, Nelson is their Tony Parker. He's plays that role, trying to get to the rim and everything. Off the bench, JJ Redick plays Manu's role. Redick's assists numbers has doubled this year and he's surprisingly well playing that Manu role. Afflalo is kinda a mix of Danny Green and Kawhi's role. Big Baby is basically playing Tim Duncan offensively. If they ever post somebody, it's Baby or it's Afflalo (like we do with Jax).
So really, this is like a mirror image. I've never seen another team run their offense exactly like we do, so this is gonna get really really interesting.
Spurs win. No way we lose this game. Although, they're at home and Duncan is due for some bad games. He's been playing way too good IMO.

I've never thought about like that. Probably should had considering that Vaughn did not only played for you guys, but served as an assistnat coach as well. Like you said, I'm expecting this game to be interesting like it normally does. The Magic minus D-12 are actually doing decent inspite of their record says. One thing for sure, they will give the Spurs some fits tonight. Good luck and may the best team win.

Re: GT: Spurs vs. Magic
Wow... Well I gotta say that this Magic team really sucks.
Again, they're basically running a watered down version of our offense. One of the biggest problems Orlando has is ball movement. The ball barely moves. Not really surprising considering there aren't even passer/playmakers on the team other than Nelson and Redick.
There also aren't enough players who could attack the rim. The key to our offense is to attack the rim, and that opens up corner threes and open shots everywhere. Remember in 2010 againts Memphis where Battier and Allen along with Zach and Gasol simply closed all driving lanes to the basket, our offense became all messed up because of that. Orlando don't have the players to run the offense.
Take away our big three and I'd still bet on our team to win this game.
Back to the Spurs though, I really don't understand how Nando won that backup PG job, but it seems like it's his at the moment. With Gary at SG, Manu plays the second unit with Nando, but I haven't felt like it translated well. Nando's a creative passer, but does absolutely nothing else. I can't even remember the last time Nando makes a shot that isn't a layup. He bricks everything. Luckily he doesn't shoot that much, but it got to a point where everytime he has the ball, i rather not see him shoot it.. ever.. Just hoping that he quickly pass it.. His biggest problem really is the arc of the ball. His shot is way too flat. And the coaching staff is pretty damn spot on that he needs to get lower because he barely use his knees ever.. Not on shots, free throws, or even slashing to the basket.
I want Patty Mills at backup PG. He provided a spark everytime he comes in and he attacks the basket, shoot threes, play some sort of bulldog type defense. I'm liking Patty a lot this year but I really don't get how Nando suddenly won that spot. Patty didn't even play today.
Danny Green also should stop running pick and rolls. He's too straight up dribbling the ball. Being too straight up doesn't allow him to change gear to attack the rim. He's running at one speed all the time because of this. You gotta learn about changing gears when running the pick and roll and attacking the basket.
