Question re Tim Duncan full court outlet pass

Post#1 » by HarthorneWingo » Sun Jan 5, 2014 9:58 pm

Hey. Knicks fan here. On our league-wide game thread, someone posted a gif of Tim Duncan throwing an over the head full court outlet pass to Marco Bellinelli that appeared to have some spin on it and curved the pass somewhat.

Can any of you Spurs scholars here tell me whether Duncan does this on purpose or not? (By the way, you guys have a great organization.)

Thanks.

I think it was an accident. Just the way he released it.

He's a Bears fan, maybe he has dreams of moonlighting as a QB.

I don't think he does it on purpose like "I'm gonna curve this ball".

Kevin Love had a video of him shooting from a full court on a basketball science video. The fact is, when you throw the ball that far, and there's gonna be atleast some type of a sideway spin when you throw the ball, the pass will curve.

What I think is that Duncan does that so often, he knows how the ball will curve so he knows how to throw it on target now.
