He didn't make the trip to New Orleans so I doubt it.

I missed it but looks like we did well. 6 guys in double figures and no one played more than 34 minutes. Ayers looked like he was involved again.
Having watched childhood friends Trey Burke and Jared Sullinger grow up in the Big Ten, I would have never guessed that Burke would be the better pro player but he already is.

There aren't many players that can rebound from a mistake like Kawhi. The kid just amazing me sometimes.

I expected more from Kawhi this season. I love his game but he's too passive. The frustrating part is that he has all the talent to become a 1st option but not the drive. I'm glad he's a Spur but when people talk about him taking over from the Big 3 once they move on I cringe. I don't see him as the first option on a contender.

Anyway, the game. Favors is a beast. Kanter has some nice moves as well. We get bullied by these physical bigs every time. Pekovic owned us the other night. Alec Burks is a solid player too. Didn't think much of Burke, but he had an off night against us.

That might be the best game I've seen Ayres play. He's figured out that if he makes quick cuts to the basket, dudes will find him. He's working off Parker, Diaw and Beli dishes. He finishes strong too, which Splitter just doesn't do. Not his game.

You see flashes of the drive at times but I know what you mean. I think once Manu and TD are out the picture we'll see Kawhi emerge from his shell, or at least I hope he will.

Maybe "drive" isn't even the word to describe it, because that suggests that he isn't motivated. I just think his personality is not one of the alpha male. He's just a very reserved dude. I've never seen him get mad or crack a smile on the court. He's even more of a blank slate emotionally speaking than TD, and that's saying something. But Timmy is a leader, while I see Leonard as a perfect 2nd or 3rd option.

He gets compared to a prime Marion a lot, and I think that's fair. Marion was never going to be the 1st option on a contender, but he's fantastic to have as an elite defender that you don't need to run plays for.

I expected more out of him too, but now I feel everyone's expectations of him was absurdly high after the Finals.

I definitely don't see him having the offensive talent to become a 1st option. I see the potential, but he's no where near there yet. Nothing about his offensive game screams elite. And currently, his limited offensive game is only good in certain situations.

For instance, Kawhi's got a physical type of post game, but only againts guys who are much smaller than him. We see him posting up guys like Monta or Kevin Martin but almost never againts guys his size or even taller ones.

And then his perimeter game is still very limited. He settles for long jumpers and he's limited in his ballhandling to create shots. Also he's a straight line slasher, sort of like Corey Maggette instead of being a Manu Ginobili type.

IMO, it's gonna be atleast a couple of years until he becomes good enough to even be a legit 2nd or 3rd option. Just way too limited offensively.

He averaged 18 and 11 while playing great D on Wade and LeBron, I get why fans/media were hyped going into this year.

But I have to agree that he might not even be a 2nd or 3rd option on a contender. Pop has said that once the Big 3 move on Kawhi is the man but I don't know.
