GT: Spurs vs. Clippers

Post#1 » by Nolan » Mon Feb 17, 2014 3:36 pm

When: 10:30 PM ET, February 18, 2014
Where: STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, CA

Hopefully everyone got a lot rest during the All-Star break because we're going to need everyone at full speed if we want to beat the Clippers.

Go Spurs!!

Manu will be back this game I hear. I don't expect much from him but we need bodies. These next 3 games will be tough. I fully expect the news media to write us off for the season after this week. Right where we want to be :D

I really hope your right. We could really use the boost he provides on offense.

I hate to say it but Blake tore up the all star game. When did he start making mid rangers ffs?

I think i'm....starting to like him as a player. Someone send help.

I've always liked Griffin as a player, however I did not fall for the hype machine the media made of him. He is what he is. A banger with great athletic ability. I've never looked at him as a great scorer nor do I expect him to ever be a great shooter. He is a good player but he is never going to be a scorer like James or Durant. With that said, the other things he does other than scoring makes him a better all round player, unlike Carmelo Anthony.

He's been fantastic this year, and he really stepped up his game with CP3 out. He's actually become underrated now, especially on RGM.

I don't get this way of thinking at all. How did the media hype him? He dunks powerfully and frequently in the age of 24/7 media. How is that his fault? Shawn Kemp would get the same level of notoriety if he played today.

Even when Kobe and the Lakers were horrible last year, they were still front page news on most NBA related websites, particularly ESPN. That's unwarranted hype.

That's what I mean. The media hyped him up into this all around superstar because he could dunk. People who don't know any better watch him play and expect someone like Lebron James and when they don't see it they call him overrated. ESPN talking heads are always going on about how Griffin needs to "step it up" and "become more of a leader"...etc. because they fall for their own hype. (what they are really saying and what they really mean is that he needs to score more) I'm not saying it's Griffin's fault at all. He is what he is but I'm impressed that he is trying to become a better all round player.

I wasn't a fan of him playing this summer either but I guess its something we're going to have to deal with.

Parker shouldn't be playing competitive ball in the Summer. He's paid millions to play for the Spurs, part of that means getting rest in the offseason to ensure he is as healthy as possible for the 82 + playoff grind. I get that he wants to represent his country, but his responsibility remains with the team that is paying him.

I hear you. But he owns that French team so him playing in the ASG and that tournament is good marketing for his team. It's the Spurs who needed to step in and say something but you don't want to piss him off either.
I suggest they keep him out for at least a week or so unless he really has a major injury. I don't think we are catching OKC for the top seed anyway.

He's in his 30's now, rest is paramount. Look at Steve Nash. Sure, he's 40, but he can't stay on the court anymore.

Man, Al Jefferson is just man-handling the Piston's big men tonight. Think what we would look like with him in our lineup.

Have to agree. I get he loves playing for the national team but like you said, he ain't no spring chicken anymore. We've seen this season he's hurting.

Great win! Good to see Manu back, though he looked like the hamstring is still an issue.
