De Colo dealt to Raptors

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Feb 20, 2014 8:29 pm

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/232074/Spurs-Trade-Nando-De-Colo-To-Raptors-For-Austin-Daye

The San Antonio Spurs have traded Nando De Colo to the Toronto Raptors for Austin Daye.

De Colo and Daye were not part of the regular rotation for either team.

Daye gives us another forward and I really don't think De Colo was going to stick around so I really have no problem with this deal.

Not a lot of activity on the spurs board i see. Anyways daye is pretty much just gonna sit on the bench all the time and only play in a blowout or garbage time where he chucks up jumpers. Good luck to u guys!

He can play SF and we really needed another SF so I'm happy with this.

Yep. Been a Spurs fan since the Grizzlies left Van City.

I'm indifferent with this deal I guess . De Colo wasn't doing much for us but Daye is just a waste of flesh from what I've witnessed of him. I watched him up close for years in Detroit. He is a skinnier, less aggressive Matt Bonner. Hopefully he's matured and we can get something out of him.

I admit I haven't exactly seen a lot of Daye but he seemed alright in Memphis last year and I remember him being decent at Gonzaga.

He can shoot the three so he sort of fits in. He's really soft defensively and can't score on anything other than a spot up jumper. Hopefully he has learned what a rebound is.

On the plus side his personality fits in perfectly with the Spurs. He's a quiet reserved type guy who doesn't call alot of attention to himself. He just goes about his business.

Daye is a good 3 point shooter but isn't strong at all on defense. Even a gentle breeze could knock this guy over lol.

Anyone willing to give me the goods on Nando.

Yep, Was just going to ask that. I only watched one game of him on TNT against the nets. Looked pretty decent.

Flashes of brilliance but too many episodes of brain farts. I think he will do well with a change of scenery though. His biggest obstacle here was we were always pretty deep at guard. He can shoot and pass pretty well and create his own shot but never seemed to do any of it consistently.

Can do some good things with the ball in his hands (ie make plays, create for himself) but he's prone to horrid turnovers and poor rotations. It just seems like he isn't on the same intensity level as the opposition.

Good call Nolan. I would call his intensity level about the same as Daye's

Nando was doing nothing for us this year when the rotation was healthy. Daye is a 6'11 shooter so at least gives us that and a deeper wing rotation.
Who knows Pop can do things with guys who can shoot the ball.
So long as he keeps hitting that consistently and shows the ability to stay in front of someone for a few plays he may even stumble into a few minutes here and there. Esp with Pop wanting to rest guys at some point leading in the playoffs.

Well atleast he doesn't have to worry about being swapped in and out of the Toros/Spurs roster every two weeks now.

How many point guards you guys got? Didn't you just shut down Parker?
