Just heard about Granger possibly getting bought out by Philly. Are the rumors he wants to go to Miami or SA because people think he wants a ring or did he actually say that?

Its all speculation as far as i'm concerned but he would be a nice addition.

Seems like pure speculation at this point. He hasn't really looked that good so far, but it really is too early to tell. He needs more time back with some consistent playing minutes.

If he can get back even remotely close to his old self he could push someone over the top this year. LAC could really use him, as could the Spurs. But please, someone keep him away from the Heat.

As a (21 years now) Spurs fan, I'd rather we didn't get Granger.

I don't think he fits the team and seeing him a little this year, he hasn't been very impressive. (As much as I'd love someone to push Kawaii to be a better, more aggressive player by challenging him for minutes).

New rumors don't even mention the Spurs anymore. I'd rather see Granger than Big Baby or Ron Artest who are also getting bought out. I don't love any of them but we need a body somehow.

I'd take granger in a heartbeat.
He can play small ball PF for us and if he gets anywhere near his original form is a legit scoring threat.
20 serviceable minutes a night from Granger would be amazing for this spurs team.
He also would give us another guy we could put on Lebron or Durant. Outside of Leonard we are sort of short of individual defenders that match up well size and speed wise to LeBron or KD

I would take Granger or Artest here in San Antonio, but personally I prefer Ron Artest.

Danny is a great shooter/scorer if he can regain his touch. What I understand is that he's recovering and is not his usual self yet. Ron Artest also has a good season last year and I don't feel he's fallen off that much. It's a system thing in NY and he's not a good fit.

So on to a system fit in San Antonio.

What Danny brings is size 6'10'' and shooting ability that fits in offensively with the Spurs. My problem is that if we envision him in our second unit, that means we have two guys (Granger and Patty) who's primary focus on the floor is to score. One sparkplug scorer is good to have. Most teams have that. But when you have two on the same time sharing the floor, then the team will lack ball movement. We already see a lack of ball movement when Patty is on the floor. Imagine if we have two Patty Mills on the floor. There will be a severe lack of ball movement. Also, Danny doesn't bring anything else to the game IMO. As in, he's not a rebounder. Not a shotblocker, Doesn't play the passing lanes. He's basically not a defensive player. So that size he brings to the team doesn't help us much.

Artest is who I want. He's not a great shooter Granger is, but has always shown he can hit the corner threes. And really, we're not looking for someone to come in and score for us. We need someone who comes in and play defense. Right?

Even in a small ball lineup, even with Granger's size, Artest is a better smallball PF and guards PFs better than Granger.

We're looking for someone to come in and play 15 minutes a game. Someone who can give us what Kawhi gives us when he's out of the game. Even sort of a mentor defensively to Kawhi.

Anyways, I don't mind getting Granger, I just hope it's Artest that we get.

I'd be happy with either Metta or Granger. Both are out of their prime and would be a good fit for us. I agree with co_laper, Metta might be the better fit. We need someone to come in play D and hit open shots. I think Granger has more in the tank and is another weapon if everyone on the team is shooting like they did against Phoenix. However, we need someone to throw at guys like Lebron and KD when Leonard is on the bench.

Deep down, I am really hoping Daye is the piece we need. Though there isn't much to indicate he'd even be a decent rotational player other than flashes with Detroit some seasons ago.

Just read on twitter that metta's brother has #spursnation hashtags on his bio now. Not that it means much, but atleast there has to be some interest.

jeez.. I really hope not. It's weird that there's essentiall 3 SFs available. Granger, Butler, and Artest. And it's arguable that Artest is the worst of the three, but feels like he fits in best.

Now, it's looking like the Danny Granger sweepstakes out there. I'm personally hoping Granger just go to Clippers. We have no need for Caron Butler either. He's not a defender nor is he someone with 3 point range. If he goes to Miami, so be it. Bring Artest to San Antonio.

I think Granger would be a good option here. I think if he can get some legs under him he will be a real asset off the bench wherever he ends up signing.

I personally hope he lands here and can give us 20 minutes a game. He'd also be good insurance for say, a Manu hamstring injury (touches wood), in terms of scoring punch and shot creation.

Here's hoping he ends up in silver and black.

I'm still hoping for Granger actually. He's not even close to what he was but anything will help us for this playoff run. He's not a lock down defender but he is coming from Indy so he should understand the concept. I wouldn't mind Artest either because his game fits with us a tiny bit better but the dude is crazy town. I guess it shouldn't bother me because I'm sure Popovich has to give the ok to any deal. If he thinks any player can help I'm not questioning him.

It sounds like Butler's a lock to sign in Miami so it looks like our chances of signing Granger are pretty good. I've said in other threads that Phoenix would probably be the best fit Granger, but I wouldn't complain if we got him. Out of all the buyout guys he's the best fit for us, he can hit corner three's, play's solid defense and he rebounds.

As for Metta he looked pretty awful in New York this year and I really don't think he could contribute much outside of being a potential distraction.

I'm hoping we land Granger, but the clippers are pitching the fact he owns a home there and promising playing time. Since Dudley has underwhelmed, I guess that's possible. Plus JJ Reddick has been injured up. If JJ gets healthy I don't see Granger being happy. JJ is a better shooter. Their offense has Jordan and Blake inside with CP3 running pick and rolls. The wings are supposed to space the floor and wait for a chance to get an uncontested jumper. JJ, Crawford (way better scorer than Granger at this point), Barnes, and Dudley Do Wrong seem to have a better skill set for that offense. Doc can promise playing time all day, but I'm not totally convinced Granger fits in.

If they end up trying to play Granger at the 4 it would have to be a small ball lineup, but in crunch time Blake is athletic enough to be a 4 in the situation. Big Baby will also be a more versatile 4/5. I just don't think LAC are a good fit for Granger.

With SA, Granger would hopefully take Ayers minutes as well as the backup 3 minutes. Plus, we all know pop is going to be resting Ginobili, Duncan, and Kawhi's knees before the playoffs. I would bet the overall minutes played for us or the clips would be equitable by the playoffs. If he excels he will get playoff minutes for either team. It'd be a smarter decision for him to become a spur. I trust that Pop would be better for him than Doc.

Granger or Caron Butler? We're in play for either, apparently.

This is true. Granger would be a quality backup for Kawhi.
