Any interest in Carmelo Anthony?

He is desperate to win a championship and this may be Tim Duncan's last season. Anyone care to share their views on Carmelo becoming a Spur?

This won't be Duncan's last season and I really don't see how Melo would fit in with this team unless he's willing to make major changes to his game and personality.

No interest in Anthony really.
A) he doesn't fit with what they do here at all,
B)he hasn't changed his game at all since turning pro, I wouldn't call that desperate to win a championship.
C)There is no way his salary would fit even if the Spurs did want him.
I don't think Duncan is retiring this year. He has already stated many, many times that he is playing out his contract which ends after next year. (although I wouldn't rule it out if we won a title this year)

Anthony is not desperate to win at all. Similar to TMac living off a few highlights, Carmelo will be happy living off that 60 point game for the rest of his career now.

The Spurs have a strong enough offensive system where you don't really need to spend 20 million on an offensive minded player. Plug in a few guys for a few million a piece and they'll basically replicate the production.
That being said, I do disagree with some posters here that Melo hasn't changed his game or isn't desperate to win. I watch pretty much every Knicks game, they're my #1 team with the Spurs being my favorite out West. He's KILLING himself on the court this year, basically the only one who still gives a crap and he's absolutely locked in and focused. He just can't carry Bargs, STAT, Felton, JR and co. and it's killing him. He's also changed his game a lot - becoming a plus offensively and an elite 3 point shooter/rebounder.

Nope. Melo would be better off going to Chicago. He doesn't fit the Spurs culture in any way. Besides that, as has been pointed out, the Spurs can't give a max contract his summer.

Well first off he'd need to take a pay cut.
And that's where our conversation ends.

If Mr. Anthony truly want to win a championship, the conversation may only be beginning.

1. He wouldn't play/live in SA, nor would his wife.
2. He's not a "Pop guy", ie. Pop would murder him for not playing D.
3. I see/hear things about how he wants to win, but I definitely do not see it from watching him play. His body language does nothing to suggest that he is desperate to win.
4. Why would he leave NY, when he wanted so badly to go there in the first place.
5. Melo is a 3. We are sorted at the 3.
6. No.

But the reality is it would never happen. No star of Melo's calibur has ever taken a massive pay cut to sign with a contender and no sports agent would ever let it happen either.

Didn't Bosh & LeBron took pay cuts to win in Miami. Did the "Big 3" in Boston take pay cuts?

At one point, wasn't Dennis Rodman a "Pop guy"? Even a ballhog like Tracy McGrady played for Pop.

Rodman never really played for Pop though. Pop was GM at the time, not on the sidelines. He traded him for Will Perdue, which might tell you what he thought of Rodman. Rodman played for Bob Hill in terms of coaching.
And T-Mac was a very different player when he played for us. Tough to be a ballhog when you're riding the pine.
Melo is a decent enough player I guess, and obviously a very talented scorer, but the chances of him in silver and black are slightly better than me banging Kate Upton, which at this stage are minimal at best.
