GT: Lakers vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Fri Mar 14, 2014 11:08 am

When: 8:30 PM ET, March 14, 2014
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

We've done a good job of beating up on sub .500 teams so far so hopefully we can keep it up against the Lakers tonight.

Go Spurs!!

It never gets old beating the Lakers. Although I would rather beat Kobe Bryant. I hope we win by 50+ :D

It's gonna be nice to watch Manu/Parker/Duncan pass Cooper/Magic/Kareem in their house tonight! As for Pau, would he be a Boris (also a free agent) replacement? Though I prefer Boris if we had to choose, not so much for production but more for versatility. Having Pau, Timmy, and Tiago on the same roster would be a huge big rotation, Boris can cover small 4's.

Has Boris at 47th after Chris Kaman and Dejaun Blair (granted it is out dated)

Wow, that was an insane half. The Lakers really dropped the soap on that one.

I feel that American players (stars) don't really want to come to San Antonio because they don't really click with any of our guys. Our team is just full of foreigners.

When I was in USA, I do feel like Asians do tend to stick together. Just like most white people hang out with other white people. Black guys hang out with other black guys. That's just how it is. And if you're an American star, you don't feel like you click with these international guys.

With that said, I think we have a better chance at getting international stars than we do getting american stars. That's why I really hope we can get Pau Gasol here. He's the closest thing this league has to Tim Duncan. I believe he's misused in LA. I imagine if we have to Tim Duncans. Damn, how awesome would that be. And Pau might be able to age gracefully as Tim Duncan do. Tim probably has 1 more year left before he retires. Pau have several.

Also I remember a long time ago how Duncan mention Gasol as the hardest player to guard because he is so long. Also the situation where Pop was mad about the Gasol to LA trade. Pop's complaint speaks to how highly he views Gasol. And then Gasol has always praised the Spurs. Add that he's from Spain and San Antonio has a huge Mexican population. I mean, it just makes sense in a lot of ways.

I like Gasol, but someone will offer him the moon. I doubt he comes here for less.

An interesting wing who could backup Leonard next year though is Shawn Marion. I might like this if there are no other options.

I agree the only way we get Gasol is if we're the only team he's willing to play for.

Marion could be a solid addition though if he's willing to take a smaller role.

As for the game, it was never in doubt.

I didn't consider his age. Pau could be the player to age with Tony and Kawhi and ease away from the Duncan years. Of course it's money that will always have the final say. The only way the Spurs get Pau is if Tim and Manu do something crazy and ring/retire this summer. With the way Tim is playing I think he may play beyond even next year if next year is a strong as this year.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
