Spurs reinforcements after Championship

So I have heard lots of reports saying if the Spurs win this year in the finals that Tim Duncan and Manu will retire. I'm wondering what moves you think they Spurs can make through draft, trade, or free agency to remain competitive?

Too soon to talk about this but I don't either one of them retires. Manu just signed a new deal and Duncan's said that he's like to play out the rest of his deal, which has one year left on it.

i see timmy and manu playing out one last year regardless of what happens in the next 2 weeks. As for potential replacements i have no idea. I don't really think we'll be seeing another timmy ever

I doubt either retires this year regardless. Timmy has repeated many many times that he wants to play out his contract and see how he feels.
I actually think the Spurs current roster would still be competitive if they both somehow retired though. We might not be championship contenders anymore but this roster would definitely be competitive. Tim's if far from the dominating center he once was and Manu is a bench player who many people didn't want us to re-sign this year. Once Tim retires I see the team moving more toward a smallball lineup like the rest of the league anyway without a traditional back to the basket center.
Right now this current team is on a mission and I really don't want to worry about the future until this season is over....

Assuming what you said becomes reality, Timmy and Manu retires, then I just hope Pop doesn't.
Best case for us.. Bring Pau Gasol in to replace Timmy. He's basically Tim Duncan's clone.
I don't know how we replace Manu, but we're deep at SG with Danny and Marco still here so I don't think we need to replace him at all.
Bring back Diaw and Patty and we should remain a playoff team. No hopes of titles anymore though, but I'm alright with that.

You're right, there isn't another Tim Duncan coming down the pike any time soon.
I think once Timmy goes, Pop goes. I was just talking to a co-worker about this very scenario, and I think what would probably happen is that the Spurs would trade Tony Parker for assets and try to rebuild around Kawhi Leonard.
Without getting into specifics of a deal and turning this post into "one of those," I think teams that want a point guard with that sort of pedigree (NY, BKN, LAL, HOU, CHA, MIA, MIL, GS, IND, TOR, OKC) would pay a king's ransom for Parker.

Although Pop keeps saying he'll follow Duncan, I'm not really sure that Pop will retire the minute Duncan retires.
Right now, the Spurs obviously don't have an assistant coach Pop trusts. Jim Boylen has been here for only a year and I don't think Pop looks at Boylen and say "This guy is my successor". Coach Bud was that guy for Pop. I think that unless Pop looks at Avery Johnson as one, then he'll need some time to groom a future coach. I just don't think Pop will leave the Spurs in shambles.
Also, while I agree that Parker likely won't retire a Spur, it just wouldn't happen that quickly.
My guess is that when TD, Pop, and Manu retires, there'll be atleast a one year period where he'll stay and try to keep this team afloat, but we'll probably suck or mediocre. After a season of lottery or perhaps 2 seasons of bottom playoff seeds, Parker has enough and Spurs granted his trade request. But I also don't see Parker just saying "Trade me" the minutes TD and Pop retires without giving it his all for one more season with the Spurs to see how far he can take them.

He is? In what way? Certainly not defensively.

Agreed. Pau has nothing on Timmy defensively. Although, there is a thing or two that Pau is better at than Timmy. One of them is passing - Pau is slightly better in that department. Offense is pretty much at the same level, perhaps Pau is a bit more versatile and finesse player at this point of their careers. They both are good rebounders. Pau's got a better midrange J. Timmy's a slightly better shot-blocker.
They're really not very alike though... Timmy's got a much bigger impact on the game.
