The Greg Popovich appreciation thread

The guy deserves so much praise yet he is so humble and tries to divert it to everyone else.

18 years as head coach. 5 titles. 17 straight winning seasons of 50+ wins. Playoffs, finals, turning unwanted players into key role players, keeping his stars in check, educating his players on non sport world issues, the list goes on.

He is a legend, plain and simple.

And although he can be tough to interview and rarely smiles, most of that is due to his seriousness and part is just to entertain the media (and himself). We saw during the first half of a playoff game when he looked down the camera and wished Craig Sager the best with his leukemia battle, the recent mention of him stopping a team session to honor Patty Mills and his indigenous heritage. He has a heart.

Thank you coach Pop, you've brought amazing success to the team I've followed for 22 years now.

Pop is the best. The consistent greatness, the long playoff runs (most years), the one word answers with reporters between quarters.

Pop is the man, and when he goes he will be missed. It's been an honor to see him do his thing.

Better than Phil at developing and building something.
