Well free agency is only a free days away and the trade market is really starting to heat up so I thought it was time to start another around the NBA thread.

Two somewhat big deals that have gone down so far:
Dallas deals Samuel Dalembert, Jose Calderon, Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington, and picks No. 34 and No. 51 in 2014 NBA draft to New York for Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton
Hate this one for Dallas. Chandler isn't the same player he was in 2011 and Felton is trash. The Knicks shed a bit salary, get a steady hand in Calderon, a good looking prospect in Larkin, a couple late picks in a stacked draft, and two expiring contracts in Dalembert and Ellington. All in all I'd call this a win for the Knicks.
Houston traded Omer Asik to New Orleans for a 2015 1st round pick.
Not sure what the protection on that pick is yet but it seems like a bit of an overpay for New Orleans considering Houston's current situation.

Arron Afflalo to Denver for Evan Fournier and 56th pick in 2014 Draft.
The West just keeps getting stronger.

since the spurs are in win mode
how many roster spots will be up for grabs?
even anderson the new rookie is not a locked to even make the roster, so does that mean the players stash overseas the spurs are still waitin on will have to continue wait for another season since we are so stacked?

Assuming we bring back Mills, Diaw, Baynes and Bonner and let Daye go we'll have exactly one free roster spot and I doubt we make a big move to fill that slot.

Ballboy on the Net's forum broke the Kidd news. Props to him and Rich Rane for not locking it. Crazy stuff:

We will have our full mle, so i really hope we get someone that can really make us even bettet with that.
I think kyle anderson basically takes over austin daye's spot.
I have my doubts whether baynes and bonner comes back. My guess is one will return, the othet won't. Not sure which though. Bonner should just be an assistant coach.
Patty and diaw has to return. This group deserves one more chance to do it together.

How would you guys feel about Jan Vesely with the MLE? He's been so awful he'd be cheap.

Shouldnt have to pay vesely mle money. Hes more like a minimum right now. Im hoping that we actually get someone that can be a rotation guy with our mle replacing what ayres or baynes gave us.

Jameer Nelson and Doron Lamb waived by the Magic. We don't need either player assuming Mills resigns. It's amazing how guys like Vesely and Lamb come into the league with talent but end up on teams with bad infrastructure. I wonder how many players that flamed out of the league the Spurs could've turned into at least role players.

So many rumors flying around. The only intriguing FA I've seen us linked to so far is Shaun Livingston. None of the early rumors ever pan out, if we only bring back the gang from last year I'll be happy.

If Mills does walk Livingston would be a great replacement. I'm a real big fan of his.

He definitely looked great in last years playoffs. It's better than the other rumor where Alex Kennedy said on twitter we were talking to Sebastion Telfair. Yikes!

We're talking to Kent Bazemore great shooter and athlete. I think that would be a great move.

It seems that most of the GM's in the league have lost their god damn minds. 5 years 60 mill for a 30 year old Gortat? 3 years 19 mill for Jodie Meeks? 4 years 32 mill for Avery Bradley? WTF?

And $90 million for Irving... just as silly.
Read earlier Spurs are talking with Pau. Would be a nice pickup for sure.

Mind boggling for me is Shaun Livingston, Ben Gordon, and Jodie Meeks.
Don't mind Bradley's deal as much.. He's still young and younger players are always paid on potential. He's improved every year and he's an elite perimeter defender. I thought his fair value was around 7 mil so getting 8 mil a year was still on the ball park.
Jodie Meeks was asked to shoot a lot in LA last year. In every other team, including the one he signed for, he'll be asked to do the same things he did before he got to LA, which is to be a spot up shooter. There's nothing else he does well. If he was a 3 and D guy, he'll deserve the MLE. He's a 3 guy with no D. He should be getting 3 mil a year at most.

Soo funny watching the rest of the league scramble without a clue while the Spurs roster is pretty much set.

Agreed. I thought Gordon's career was done.
