Free Agent Targets

So far, I'm hearing Spurs linked to Pau Gasol, Josh McRoberts, Rashard Lewis, Sebastian Telfair, Shaun Livingston, Kent Bazemore.. Anyone else I'm missing?
Livingston signed with GS.
If I'm ranking these guys, my list will go.
1. Pau
2. McRoberts (Only makes sense if we can't resign Boris Diaw)
3. Bazemore
4. Lewis (Bonner replacement)
5. Telfair (Please no)

My list so far has to be :
1.McRoberts (ultimately too expensive)
2. Aminu (see reason for McRoberts not coming)
3. Bazemore
Bazemore could give more relief during the regular season when we need bodies to rest our stars.
With the Bryce Cotton signing it's hard to see Bazemore coming in as we have a million guards. I wonder if someone doesn't get traded. Looking at you Ayers...

I also liked what Troy Daniels showed in the playoffs. Though I think we need a Bonner upgrade. Mike Scott isn't a bad three point shooter for his size and body type.

I'm starting to get a little worried that we haven't had a deal with Diaw. I expected it to be easier to sign Diaw instead of Patty.

Telfair is still playing? News to me.
Pau is obviously at the top of the list. The rest aren't really doing it for me.

Apparently we're very interested in Caron Butler. Don't really get why, but I wouldn't complain if we got him.

Yup, I'm like WTF when I read that news. We don't need him at all. Our SG/SF rotation right now is set with Danny, Manu, Kawhi, and Marco. We don't really need a fifth rotation guy at that spot. Even if we do, it's got to be a SF/PF tweener. A Shawn Marion type would fit better.

Just read that Telfair signed with OKC, though only for the minimum. But I'm actually surprised he got this much early interest in FA. I don't really expect reading guys signing for the minimums yet at this point.

Omg, no. NO!
Way too inconsistent from the 3 and his whole 'phone' thing he did was annoying the hell out of me. Doesn't look like a Spur at all.

Manu is just quoted saying "SA will be same, just need Bonner and Diaw back"
If that's true, that means we won't be getting any new players other than Kyle Anderson. Bonner, Diaw and we extended QO for Baynes means we'll have 15 roster guys.
Damn, I wish we didn't keep Daye.. Or atleast trade Ayres.. They're our two worst players.

I don't really worry too much about the 11 and 12th player at the end of the bench. I don't even think there's a market for Ayres or Daye.

I like Daye. I mean, he can shoot and maybe if you insert him in a system with smart experienced players, he will fit ok.
Coach Pop will help and demand some defense/conditioning..
He won't send Kawhi to the bench, but for 10-15 minutes a game in the RS.. he can make some shots..

Regardless of what Manu says, I don't think we can just bring the same team back. Patty's injury means we need another guard (maybe Cotton). Ultimately there will be games during Mill's absence where Tony won't play. Also, if Kawhi misses anytime we are in trouble like last year. I'm not saying we replicate Leinard, but we need a 3/4 that can defend. That's why Aminu looks attractive for me.

I wouldn't mind Aminu, I think he'll command too much money.
Would love to see Gasol here in San Antonio. Not the same as he was in his prime but he is a player that commands respect offensively and should thrive in our offence.

Yeah, it's just that I'm really hoping that we get to use our MLE for someone that will likely be in our rotation. I really feel we're so thin up front.
Our big rotation is basically Duncan, Diaw, and Splitter, with a few sprinkles of Bonner in the playoffs. They're all over 30, except for Splitter. We can really use another big.
I really wish we're hearing something that links us to Jordan Hill. I just feel like he's exactly what we need. Gives us something different than the bigs we currently have. Rebounder, athleticism, shotblocking.

I think Ayres provides 2 of those things: rebounding and athleticism. He's just not particularly great at either, plus he seems to have trouble with simple concepts like catching an entry pass.
I'd love Hill here, and think he'd be a nice addition. Isn't Kris Humphries a FA? Jermaine O'Neal? He was decent with GS last year. Ed Davis would be interesting. He hasn't seemed to find an NBA home yet, but he's got all the makings of a serviceable big man.
I'd actually like us to make a run at Birdman. You want to talk about athleticism, energy and shotblocking? Plus I think he'd be a great fit chemistry wise.

Yup. Birdman would be cool. But I don't think Pop likes him. He just doesn't seem like a Spur type of player. He's too "Rodman" from my POV.
I don't want O'neal. Ed Davis can be a great project for us. He could be groomed a little. He was showing tons of potential in Toronto. That got lost once he's traded to Memphis.

I think the tattoos and weird hairdo is tainting your view of Andersen. He's nothing like Rodman IMO. I've never seen Birdman kick a cameraman, ignore the team during timeouts, or any of the other crap that Rodman used to pull back in the day. Of course, he's nowhere near the rebounder/defensive player that Rodman was, but who is?
I like the energy that he brings, and I like that he clearly knows what his strengths are and plays within his role. He's almost the perfect big man coming off the bench.

+1 on the bird. Guy is just energy on both ends, even though he's like 35 or something.
I also think his numbers would go up in our system, not that it particularly matters but i could see him getting good minutes with the right guys and going ham when needed.
I hear we're still in the hunt for Pau somehow. One can still dream.
