The Spurs have signed former Alabama forward JaMychal Green to a standard “make-good” training camp contract contingent upon making the team. Terms of the deal were not announced. The Spurs currently have 14 players on the roster, with only one slot remaining.

Green (6-8, 230) played for the Spurs at the recent Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 7.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in 16.2 minutes. He averaged 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Austin Toros in the NBA Developmental League in 2012-13 before spending last season in France.

Green went undrafted out of Alabama in 2012 after averaging 14 points and 7.4 rebounds in his final season.

It's a make good training camp deal. I've always been a fan of his, I doubt he makes our team but hopefully another team gives him a chance.

Don't see space for him on the roster but this can't hurt. Will Bryce Cotton be making the team?

Cotton will for sure. Definitely while Mills recovers, but I saw enough of him to play him over Joseph really (am not a fan of CoJo obviously).

I wish we could cut Ayers to keep Green, but suck, I think we are stuck with Ayers.

I really don't think Ayres is terrible as a project big. He's athletic, sets good screens, rebounds and hustles. If he could learn to catch he'd be a pretty productive player.

I prefer Baynes though. He's a little more refined.

I doubt it. Like I said, Cotton is a worse version of Patty Mills in basically all of the important areas that he brings (scoring/defense/speed). Cory Joseph brings something to the table compared to Patty. And from your backups, that's really what you want. I don't want a lesser version of my backup PG to be my third string PG. You gotta bring something different.
