http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/234698/Aron-Baynes-Exploring-Deals-In-Europe-Still-Hopes-To-Re-Sign-With-SpursAron Baynes hopes to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs, but he is also exporing potential deals with European teams.
Baynes is reportedly searching for a contract worth $1.5 million Euros.
The Spurs extended Baynes a qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent.
Still don't know why he isn't signed yet. We need him and it seems like he wants to stay here, i'm guessing the issue is money but he can't be asking for that much.

I don't know about that. Dollars may be the issue given how cheap Patty was signed for. If that is all they are offered Patty then Baynes may have been offered substantially less than we assume.

Spurs 1 year offer is 1.115 mill , personally I think he is worth more than that.
Has till Oct 1 to take up Spurs offer, if he has a good World Champs I can see him getting a few better offers.

There is going to be somebody looking for a bigger payday no matter what. I will be happy for him whatever happens. Just glad it's not Mills.

I'm sure Baynes is going for most money possible. Spurs have a low offer, and probably expected an offer within reason they would match. However, if the offer comes out of Europe, the Spurs don't get the option to match.
This situation is interesting because if the offers from Europe come in after the World Cup, Baynes will need to make a crazy decision. He would have to choose between losing at least a few million or being a part of one of the best teams the NBA Finals have ever seen.
The offer from the Spurs is for one year. If he risks it financially and establishes as a solid rotation big his payday would be far greater next off season, possibly for the Spurs. Unfortunately Baynes isn't getting any younger and he was Australia's best player in the friendlies leading up to the World Cup. It's looking more and more likely the deal in Europe will be too good to pass up.
The most shocking part of all this is the lack of NBA interest outside of San Antonio.

Well he's restricted so that might be scaring some teams off but i'm still surprised that no one else has even been rumoured to be interested in him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7e6w0Vq1eQNice block from Baynes in their loss. He played well all tournament and certainly well enough to make the bench of most teams in the NBA. I guess money and minutes will be the key factor to where he ends up.

Baynes outplayed Val , Ayon , Asik and whoever Slovenias bigs were head to head.
If Spurs cant give him any more than 1.1 mill and junk time, I think he is gone.

So now the headlines are showing the Spurs are open to a sign and trade.
With the amount of absolutely garbage big men scattered through this league, it is mind boggling that Baynes hasn't been signed yet.

Yep it's baffling. I really hope he just takes the QO, I really want him back in a Spurs uni even if it's only for one more year.

As a Spurs fan I do too, but I feel like teams are saying 'you're a low minutes guy, take the offer on the table' and Baynes is thinking 'hey quality bigs are hard to come by and I have lots of improvement left in me, stop insulting with your offers'.
I may be wrong

They just made Gustavo Ayon an offer. If he accepts, don't see Baynes coming back.
