Thought we should have a Spurs related thread for the World Cup. Looking forward to seeing Baynes in a few, though I'm going to try and check out some of Diaw at the same time.

Croatia - Philippines was interesting, free agent Andray Blatche got the green light and dropped 28/12 in a near upset. Bogdan dropped 24 points but the next highest stat was 6 TOs. Still wish he would have dropped to is this year.

Baynes with a dominant 21pts and 7reb in Australias loss to Slovinia 90 - 80.
I think someone must have turned the A/C off late in the game as he went down with a bad cramp in the 4th! :wink:

Google "first row sports", they have all the games.

Baynes looked really good today, as well as Diaw. Both lost, but not on account if their play. Tiago didn't do much but Brazil won. Baynes trying to get a deal, he was showing some game. Saw a rare Walter Hermann sighting with
Argentina. Why has no one from Argentina joined Manu in SA? Scola was closest, but none of the golden generation came on board. Delfino would be a welcome addition if it weren't for his injury.

Also, Exum has been totally underwhelming in both Summer League and World play.

No problem! I want to see more Croatia as well to see what Bogdan does. Croatia is going to be good in the coming years.

Those are the two players I like most on team USA. Davis a future great barring injury, but Faried is a perfect fit for the Spurs. Turkey with a totally balanced team.

Baynes continuing to make a case this World Cup over Ayon. I'm not even sure how that report made that a question.

Back when his name first popped into conversations for possible high draft position, I remember posting something along the lines of it must be a weak draft (knowing Exum and not the rest) if he is up there.

He can't shoot, has suspect handling and isn't much of a playmaker.

I understand taking risks on once in a generation type players and certainly bigs, because you can build a franchise around them but this kid will be a dud.

The saddest part is, he openly admitted to expecting a higher selection. How does he not know his own worth? He has barely had any decent competition leading up to his selection, such a strange move by not just the Jazz but any team considering him so highly.

It's the case of big fish, little pond for his career until now and as much as I'd never wish failure on anybody, he has some huge developing to do if he wants to have an NBA career.

On another note, a player I suggested the Spurs could use has been decent in two games, Joe Ingles. Not a star but a quality all round guy that I think would make a good role player. Hopefully he gets some notice in this tournament.

Baynes remains the most consistent player for the Aussies. Big win against Lithuania today. I'm curious to see what happens when team USA plays a decent team finally. It looks like they got the weakest draw of all the teams.

It was Baynes vs Ayon today, Baynes led all scorers with 21 pts mostly due to getting to the line (9-10). Baynes is making Australia relevant. It makes me wonder how good they could've been had Patty not destroyed his shoulder.

Brazil-Serbia is looking like a fun game! Splitter is in foul trouble, but Serbia is scrappy. Bogdan hit a huge three and the Bucks Raduljica just tied it.

They are still not top 5 in the world. Not even close. Baynes is doing well but will be a non factor against the top teams. Australia also can't defend. Lithuania (who most people seem to agree threw the game to avoid an early US crossover) went 70% from 2 pointers, most of which came from walking by defenders and simply laying it up.

I do agree that a full team including Mills and Bogut would push further but we'll likely never see those two in action ever again thanks to their NBA success. (At least not till the end of their careers anyway).
