GT: Spurs vs. Rockets

When: 8:00 PM ET, November 6, 2014
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX
Should be another tough one for us and it looks like we'll be without Tiago (calf again) and Marco (groin).
If we're going to win this one Kawhi needs to step up on both ends, Parker needs to continue his solid play and Duncan and company need to contain Dwight.
Go Spurs!!

I'll take a November loss to Houston and a win in May/June anytime.....

Any chance Kyle Anderson plays in this one?

I just read that Belinelli, Duncan, Splitter and Ginobili are all out tonight so there is a decent chance to see Anderson.

The Rockets should take this one pretty easily. With (seemingly) half the team out tonight and Pop clearly still working out the wrinkles in the system, Houston will probably continue to roll.
Rockets 106, Spurs 91. I hope I'm wrong!

One of the worst offensive quarters I've seen the Spurs play and we're only down three. I'll take it. At least KA is getting burn finally.

Well that was awful.
The defense wasn't bad but our offense was dreadful.

Our offense without Timmy/Manu/Splitter/Mills/Beli sucked so much that it was painful to watch.
The only bright spot of the game was Joseph, who played aggressive the whole night. I liked Kyle's game was well. Even thought he didn't shoot well, he played calm and smooth, no matter how difficult the game was.
Leonard played well defensively but he was horrible offensively. Green and him forced too many bad shots. Tony was terrible overall.
Howard just punked our weak front-court with Bonner, Baynes and Ayres. Not really a surprise.

Like I said before the game, I'd rather mail this one in and have a healthy team in April. Our bench gets valuable minutes that will make them better contributors in the spring, no matter how bad they looked last night. I did find it a little odd that we had 5 days off before the back to back and Pop might have been a bit overly cautious, but he knows his players better than anyone. And honestly, November NBA games are just not that important unless you're an extremely young team that cant win a road game.
Houston can win 70 regular season games for all I care and burn themselves out before the playoffs.

These early-season games mean very little in terms of what they tell us about the team's potency. The Spurs will get their health right and round into form.
I'm just a little bit concerned about Leonard, though... I wonder if the contract stuff is in his head at all. I know he's only played three games, but he's looked pretty bad on offense to me.

I was expecting Leonard to come out this year looking something like an Allstar or a Near Allstar type player.
It's only 2 games, but that's disappointing. Without Manu and Duncan, we could really use a more aggresive Kawhi but instead he's back to his early season self last year. It took Kawhi half a year to start getting more assertive.
And Diaw is back to his 2012-2013 season form. Meaning he just refuses to shoot. Last year Diaw was aggresive, posting up, scoring, shooting. Now he's just back to his old self that wouldn't shoot at all. Damn it.
I'm just hoping these two things change soon. I don't want it to continue for a long time because then it'll be habit that's hard to change again.
