Is it a foregone conclusion that he'll be the successor to Pop in a year or 2, or is he open and available for other head coaching jobs around the league?
Thanks

Who knows, i'm sure if he gets a good offer from another team Pops will advise him to take it.

My gut feeling says no.. but considering who else we have on the bench, if I have to pick one from our current assistants, I'll choose Messina.
Though I don't like how Avery Johnson is viewed as a dictator type coach, I always had the feeling that he'll one day become a Spurs coach. The guy I really want is Bud but I think he's set his roots on Atlanta and it's unlikely that he comes back here.
So right now.. I want Messina or brick back Avery.

I wouldn't mind AJ as he's a former Spur and everything. He needs to take a step back on his micromanagement tendencies. Otherwise, he's been a solid coach during his tenure at Dallas and so-so in Brooklyn.
