The Free Agency Thread

Post#1 » by Nolan » Wed Jul 1, 2015 2:58 pm

Obviously if we get LMA we'll start a separate thread to discuss that but let's use this thread to discuss all the minor guys we're interested in or guys you think would be good additions.

And as always all you lurkers are more than welcome to join in.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238497/Carlos-Boozer-To-Receive-Interest-From-Nets-Mavs-Rockets-Lakers-Heat-Spurs

Carlos Boozer is expected to receive interest from at least six teams in free agency.

The Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs have been mentioned as teams interested in Boozer.

Boozer spent the 14-15 season with the Lakers after being amnestied by the Chicago Bulls.

Really hope this isn't true. Guy can get buckets in the post but outside of that he's useless.

Bismack Biyombo would work well here and may come fairly cheap.

We need a proper point guard (off the bench) from somewhere too and I'm ok for Mills to go if it assists in that.

Biyombo would be a great get.

Apparently David West is interested in signing here as well. Would love to have him coming off the bench for us.

sorry to intrude here, the pistons just signed aron baynes and I've only seen him play a little so I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me what to expect from him.

PS I hope you guys land Aldridge, it will only help continue the dynasty.

Big strong dude that doesn't lack confidence. He'll make some boneheaded plays from time to time and he isn't anything special on the defensive end but he's a top quality backup center. I'm sure you guys will love him.

thanks, I kind of figured he would be a solid backup but a lot of people on the pistons' board are freaking out lol. it might have to do more with us almost paying him $7 million a year...

Price seems a little high considering Ajinca got 4 years 20 million.

Well we got LMA now we need to fill out the rest of our roster. So assuming CoJo takes the QO and Manu and Duncan return our current depth chart should something like this:

Parker/Mills/Joesph
Green/Ginobili
Leonard/Anderson
Aldridge/Diaw/Bonner (maybe)
Duncan/Lalanne

So we need help at C and SG/SF. Who could we get for the vet min to fill those holes?

Swap Bonner out of that for David West. (getting greedy I know hehe)

What about Gerald Green as a backup shooter? Or maybe his asking price is too high? I still think someone like Andre Miller is worth considering as a backup PG, cheap, intelligent, doesn't need a lot of minutes.

He is pretty good and will work for that pay cheque for sure.

He was a better finisher with softer, more accurate touch than Splitter here and as the season went on was finishing with a lot of dunks, something rare for bigs in this team. Has a decent jumper and is a brilliant free throw shooter too (29 straight during a stretch and 89/100 at one point last season so he can shoot).

He might be 28 already but he is still improving for sure. I wish he didn't have to leave but great to see him get a nice deal.

Could be a great add if lose out on West. Big body that can do some damage on the offensive end, but he's not the greatest or smartest defender.

I think offensively, Boozer is a great fit. He's awesome on a P&R. I wish we can get another Center in here though but I guess that's wishful thinking. All the Centers that can even play a little are getting signed big money.

More important right now is to get some wing players. I'm not sold on Manu's body being able to hold up for the entire season.

Green would be alright, but the guy I really like is Rasual Butler. He can't do much outside of shooting the ball but he shot the lights for the Wizards last year.

Also we're apparently interested in Carlos Delfino. Wouldn't mind adding him either.

Could we be bringing back Bonner and Ayers for depth? I've always like Jason Maxiel's game, even though he's undersized and 32 now. Tyler Hansbrough is interesting also if he's healthy

If we get West and bring those two back we'll be looking pretty solid at PF/C.

Our biggest concern right now is PG.

Parker is playing for France again even after his injury riddled season and when (assumedly) fully fit towards the end of the season he still looked to be in serious decline. We have lost CoJo, Mills is not a PG and likewise Manu if he even comes back.

Parker didn't play last summer. He mentioned that since he didn't play, he had a rough start and couldn't catch up. Could him playing this summer benefit him this season? Also, now that we have Manu back along with West coming to the Spurs what is anyone's thoughts on this (like the lineup)?
