Spurs center Aron Baynes on Thursday agreed to a lucrative multiyear deal with the Detroit Pistons, league sources confirmed to the Express-News.
Baynes, a 6-foot-10 center from Australia, had been with the Spurs the past three seasons and played on the 2014 NBA championship team. He played in 70 games for the Spurs, averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 16.0 minutes.
Although financial details were not immediately known, ESPN.com reported Baynes’ deal could be worth as much as $20 million over three years.
That represents quite a raise for a player who worked last season for a little more than $2 million as the last piece re-signed from the title squad.
Happy for the big guy. 3 years 20 million is a pretty solid deal.
