Acquire Ray McCallum from Kings

Post#1 » by Cactus Jack » Thu Jul 9, 2015 5:51 am

Acquired for future 2nd round pick

The San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings have agreed upon a trade involving Ray McCallum.

McCallum will give the Spurs depth at point guard to replace Cory Joseph, who signed this offseason with the Toronto Raptors.

The Kings will receive a future second round pick from the Spurs.

I don't think I've seen him play before. But he's projected to be our 3rd PG or even 3rd SG depending on whether he's a PG or an undersized SG. I'm not expecting much from him. What I want to see us get right now is a SF.

I'll say that it seems to be good value trading our 2nd rounder for this guy. He sounds like he's worth more than a 2nd rounder talent.

He killed us a few months ago

I trust the FO on this move. I think we will love him as a backup PG.

Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

WTF are the Kings doing? This guy's a legit backup PG.

I've seen him play a bunch in college. I was hoping we drafted him when he came out but it didn't happen. The guy can score and run an offense. He has decent size and quickness and also a good basketball background (his father was his college coach at the University of Detroit). Couldn't ask for a better replacement for the price IMO and he has a great chance to grow with Kwahi and friends and become a good player.

Highlights and general Kings fan comments look like we got a steal and a half here. Very nice!

So essentially it's Belinelli to the Kings for McCallum and a second round pick. The Spurs are having one of their best offseasons in a long time.

From what I heard on the guy, he's more of a SG in a PG body. He will need to tune up his PG skills up a bit. Otherwise he has potential to do better.

I tried asking the guys on Kings board and it seems like they can't agree on what McCallum is. There's some that's saying he's undersized SG, another saying he's a floor general.. I mean.. An undersized SG that is a floor general is basically a Point Guard.. Also said that he's very careful with the ball and such, so that to me sounds like a PG too.. But really, I came out of that thread thinking that even Kings fans don't really know what they had with McCallum.

Here's McCallum's profile to help you with the question you seek. I think he has point PG potential regardless. He just has to get with the right ppl to help him along like TP and Pop for starters.

RC said in a summer league interview that he feels, at this stage, Ray is better at running an offense than CoJo. Thought that was interesting.
