Danny Green is shooting 33% fg and 30% 3's

7.5 points a game at 33% and barely 30% from long range.
Is he just in a major funk? Given that in his career best year Pop admitted 'we never run a single play for Danny, he just shoots what he gets', is Green struggling in the new offense? Or is he working so hard on the defense end that he is spent on offense?
I'm not overly concerned this far in, but they are pretty poor numbers (down 10% on both fg and 3p) especially considering you'd be expecting more open shots this year.

It's still early but i'm scared that after the big pay day he just didn't put the work in during the summer.
And it also seems that most teams have figured him out on the offensive end. He can't dribble or finish in traffic to save his life so every time he gets he seems to be getting ran off the 3 point line which leads to disaster.

He's trying to cut inside a lot more this season which i'm pleased to see because he really needs it. As Nolan pointed out though, he's ain't no tony or manu. He's shaky at best but i'm sure with more practice he can utilize his length to make it work.
Either that or he keeps playing like garbage and pop cuts his minutes.

Every year a spur tries to add something all year only to master it for the playoffs.
This year its Danny learning to drive. Practice makes perfect.

Garbage? He is still a good defender.

Never said he wasn't but he needs to step it up on offence. That's just how it is.

One thing about DG going back to his NC Days, his defense was always on point. As we all know the 3 and D is his bread and butter. I can appreciate that he's trying to add more to his skills set by driving to the basket. That show the willingness to be more aggressive.
As for the big pay, it tends to happen whenever players work hard to get the pay day they deserve, they tend not to work twice as hard as the money has made them too comfortable to break the ceiling of continuing to improve. Reminds me of Malik Rose when he earn his payday a decade ago. Always a hard worker, but the money got to him along with playing the center position against bigger centers at only 6'7. That can make a lot of wear and tear on your body during the NBA career.

30 games in now and Green at 35%fg and 30%3p.
And the 'he still plays D' argument is getting weaker.
When Green is on the bench, the Spurs are at 88.2 defensive rating. When he is in the game they jump up to 95.3.
Based on those numbers he is our 9th best defender in terms of impact. He needs to wake up and pull his finger out.

I agree that it's time to start taking away some of his minutes. We have plenty of depth at SG/SF.
He did look pretty solid last night though.
