The idea of trading Danny seems to be a popular one on the trade board but I wanted see what everyone around here thinks about it and I'm also interested in finding out exactly what everyone thinks of him as a player and how valuable he is to our team.
I feel like I'm a lot lower on him than most of you guys and I really think we should consider dealing him. His defense would be hard to replace but it wouldn't be impossible and his offensive game outside of his 3 point shot (which teams have figured out how to take away from him) is a complete dumpster fire and for our offense to be effective next year his role needs to be reduced as far as I'm concerned.
So how do you guys feel about Green?

Re: Danny Green
It would be hard to replace his size and defense at the guard position. Especially on this team with how small all of our other guards are. I would be on board for trading him if we had a plan in place for another guard with decent size.

Re: Danny Green
greens contract is only 8m per year, thats like t he starting MLE in the new cba kickin in....
problem is his never recovered his shooting stroke, he can say whatever he wants in the offseason putting work into his game, we want to see results...
as of LMA leaving portland cause they were in rebuilding mode coming here thinking he will win a championship, all of a sudden looks like the spurs are going into retool mode, dont get me wrong the spurs will still win 50 games and get a playoff spot, but they need to do more then just being happy making the playoffs...

Re: Danny Green
He needs to go. He no longer fits in the teams offense, especially when he isn't hitting from three.
I can't stress how much he hurts our team by not being able to dribble and often not even make the right pass.
Kawhi and LMA would have a much easier time of it if we weren't playing 4 on 5.
Obviously he has a place in the league being quite honestly still one of the top defensive guards in the entire league but I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm lost for words as to how someone can make it through to the very top of the game of basketball and never learn how to dribble (nba guards standards that is).
Look at even the average SGs in the league, (googles a list...) and I see almost every one being an upgrade on offense for us.
In saying that, I'd love to see Simmons improve enough to take the starting role. It then makes our job easier filling the bench and gives us the option to trade Green for a big guy.

This times a million. All teams have to do is run him off the line and his entire offense game is taken away and then he becomes a turnover machine.
I also have faith Simmons, all he really needs to do is improve his jumper slightly and he'll be a serviceable starter for us and a far better fit with Kawhi and LMA than Green currently is.
