Around the NBA: The Regular Season edition

The regular season is now officially over after that remarkable game 7 and now it's to focus on what looks to be another exciting offseason.

Free agency is going to be a frenzy with the cap rising and with 24 of the 30 teams now having enough cap space to sign a max player and the other 6 being more than capable of getting max space as well. It's shaping up to be a wild offseason full of trades, signings and overpays.

The draft which is going down on Thursday is shaping up to be an interesting one as well. Boston is apparently close to trading the 3rd pick to Philly for one of Okafor or Noel which would give Philly two top three picks.

So discuss away fellas!!

Well first trade of the offseason and it's a somewhat substantial one.

Really like it for Utah. Hill's a perfect next to Exum, Burks and Hood. If everyone stays healthy they've got themselves an impressive and versatile guard rotation.

Jose Calderon...... The ultimate "throw-in guy". How many teams has he played for now?

I originally kinda liked the Rose deal for the Knicks but after looking at his numbers I think the Bulls did alright. Yes he's only 27 but he's gone waaayyy downhill over the past 4 seasons.

And the deals keep coming.

Indy is really going all in on the up tempo style I guess. They should really try and get a shooter or two though, as it stands that team has zero spacing.

Like the deal for Brooklyn too. Young is what he is and he's not going to help them long term so dealing him for picks is probably the right move. Marks and company need to start undoing some of King's work and get this team some picks and young assets.

Apparently Ibaka is available. If he really is it's going to be interesting to see what they get for him.

I don't think Ibaka has much left to give so don't think anyone outside of a couple already contending teams will show interest.

I'm curious about Lin opting out. I wonder if we even have him on the radar.

I was thinking Thon Maker was going to be available for us to pick. Boy was I off base......

lol all these teams trying to clear cap or building up assets trying to get KD, what happens if he decides to stay...all those moves negated...

Still don't get the Ibaka trade for OKC. Yeah the valve is great but the fit of the pieces is fairly questionable.

I do remember him complaining more than once about not being involved in the offense more. They were probably just trying to get the most they could for him while trying to keep Durant happy enough to stay.

OKC seems to have a habit of moving people who have a problem with Durant and Westbrook running the team. See Reggie Jackson....

Anyone here have any opinions / stories of Chad Forcier?

I was surprised to see Ibaka's age, I thought he was 30 or so. He certainly plays like he is older and less athletic than his best years. I'm surprised the Magic gave away so much. OKC got away like a thief in the night imo.

So are we all in agreement that Mozgov's contract with the Lakers has been the worst handed out so far?

:( :(

I would actually have to say Delledova's is the worst. That guy shouldn't even be in this league......

That's harsh, he greatly improved his jump shot last year and is a good pick and roll player.

If he can become even more consistent on the three he will be like Mills but with much better playmaking and D really.

I think Conley's is the worst. Way too much for way too long. The guy is a solid PG and nothing more. The Grizzlies won't even make the playoffs you watch.

Well, if you call going at people's knees and fouling people because he cant keep up with them defense, he's pretty good I guess.

I agree with you on Conley though. That contract is ridiculous for a slightly above average point guard. I think Memphis panicked on that one. No one was going to offer him that much.

So what do you guys think about what Orlando's doing? They've added Ibaka, Bismack, Augustin, Meeks and Jeff Green so far. I like adding Bismack but I have issues with the rest of the guys they got.
