Duncan vs. Mourning in St. Croix 1992 - Great story

Post#1 » by Ballings7 » Tue Jul 12, 2016 1:11 am

Can be merged if needed, but, I think it deserves its own thread... but what ever maybe...

Anyhow, great story here - I never knew about this or his origin to this extent other than brief mini-documentaries and summary reads...

Traces back to Dave Odom and Chris King at Wake:
“You could see he was a little raw, but you could see he had the touch,” King said. “When I saw him doing that on the low block, it was like, ‘Wow.’ Jump hook. Fade. This one play, I’ll never forget. Alonzo tried to go up. Tim blocked the shot, and he ran the floor like a deer. Someone threw it to him, and he dunked all over Alonzo.

“He’s playing against Alonzo Mourning. He’s 16. He’s dominating this guy. He’s running the floor. He has these great hands. I was like, ‘Oh my god, this kid can play!’ ”

Makes me want to go watch his college games - and his whole career again...

Great read thanks!

There was this one spin move in the finals against the Knicks where he had barely spun by his defender and his hand was already through the rim for the dunk.

Gonna miss him which is tough after he replaced Robinson as my favourite player. Maybe LMA does the same now?
