I hope he gets a chance to play. Seeding means little in the West these days so may as well give the young guys a real chance to shine.

2nd Latvian in NBA right now (he and Porzingis). Hopefully Pop will give him chance to play. Good three point shooter, can play as SF and PF and is pretty clutch

I heard he signed for $1.5M/2. That's a big contract, or so close to it that I can't imagine why it isn't one. Seems really strange considering that most folks were saying $4M/2.

I know it's only summer league but I liked what I saw from him. He showed some decent athleticism and that shooting stroke is just pretty.

This morning I found out a interview with Bertans on Latvian television. He said that he get the official offer from Spurs in Salt Lake City summer league and he wasn't playing in summer league from the begining, because he needed to make sure that his contract with his last club is finished. He said he likes the city really much. He was talking with Pop for few words and Pop was being himself he said that he needs to stop getting injured.

The coaches on summer league team was impressed with his game and how he handled himself... he was a little bit worried before the game, he just wanted to get his first shot and then the game went really well from his perspective.

About his role next season in what position he will play, he said that the coaches said he will only play as a power forward, and he continued that it's ok, he can play in whatever position the coaches will need to play him. He said he have met Duncan before, but hasn't talked with him, cause Timmy doesn't talk a lot haha

About jersey, he said he wanted to play with Spurs with #8, but gonna choose his last #42 number.

That's about it.

Think he'll be in the mix to play the other forward spot next to Anderson. Simmons has the advantage in the pecking order, but I think Bertans is a better fit with the rest of the second unit, so we'll have to see how that resolves itself.

I just realised that his brother Dairis played with us in Summer League last year. I thought they were the same person ha! His brother has a sweet jumper as well.
