Gameday: Suns at Spurs

WHEN: 7:30PM Central, December 28, 2016
WHERE: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX
What's the difference between a 'gimme game' and a 'trap game'? Mindset, mostly. This should be an easy affair for the good guys against a struggling Phoenix team, so let's hope they don't come out with the first-half lethargy that's plagued them so often at home this year.

Should be an easy one for us but like Sammy said this could easily be a trap game for us coming off a big Christmas day win.

God, Kyle Anderson is useless. I'm not sure he deserves to be in the league to be honest.

Aldridge stepping up.
Totally agree on Anderson. Gets a fantastic chance to prove he belongs in this league and totally craps the bed AGAIN. I don't see how Pop can trust him anymore.

Well, we did what we weren't supposed to do (don't the Spurs read our gameday threads?!?!) and came out shaky to start the game. I suppose Pop was wishing he'd told the team specifically, "DON'T let them shoot 2,000% in the first half."
Still, we pulled away when it mattered, and considering we were playing without our top guy, I'm certainly happy with a 21-point win. Tony had himself a nice throwback tonight.

Aldridge was great again. Hope this continues and he has turned the corner.
Green was a bit polarising again but there are some positive signs.
Mills is getting out of hand with his lobs. Some of them over the last week or two have literally just been hail Mary chucks where our guy has to be Superman to get close.
Gasol seems to be settling into to a real consistent stat line and contribution. Something we need. I still love his professionalism and pure passion at his age. Really inspiring I think.
Murray... I know it's garbage time but the flashes are bright. Really bright.

Dejounte is the next steal of the draft for the Spurs...just like Kawhi years ago.
He's long, athletic, quick, great handles... decent IQ for a young kid...I have not checked still how he plays on the defensive end...but he has all the tools to be great there.
He needs to improve his jumper but he has great future.

The final result was impressive but damn our performance was worrying at times. So many lapses on the defensive end and far too many careless turnovers but in the end LMA really put us over the top. He had an outstanding game and we really should of fed him the ball more often.

Agreed. He also seems to be learning as well, the improvements he's made since the start of the year are impressive.

Murray looks very unorthodox in a good way. A bit of Manu in there? with athletic ability, good iq, but those long skinny limbs always get to me

Murray has Jamal Crawford as a mentor/friend and they apparently talk every day or two. Definitely similar builds and handles but hopefully the comparisons end there for Murray's future.
I didn't realise Murray was leading the D-League in turnovers per game and only shooting 12% from 3pt there.
Definitely seems like the type of guy who rises to the competition and quality of play around him.

I wouldn't consider him a "steal" cause he was projected as a Top 20 pick with a very big upside. Everybody knew about his talent, length and athletism. He didn't get pick before cause he wasn't NBA ready. So the Spurs took the best talent available, but to enjoy in a couple of years. A luxury many teams can't have with 1st round picks.
Kawhi Leonard became a starter for a contending team in his rookie season with many teams passing on him to pick some average talent. The rest is history.
