GT: Lakers vs. Spurs

When: 6:30 PM MT, Jan 12th 2017
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio TX

Time to move on from that disappointing loss to the Bucks and start to focus on one of Sammy's favorite teams

We can't sleep on these guys, their record definitely isn't impressive but they are a talented young team with a high powered offense and they did manage to upset the Grizzlies last week.

We need to play solid transition defense and dominate the paint to win this one.

Go Spurs!!

I am indeed a dedicated Laker-hater, as mah dawg Nolan knows. Their downfall over the last several years has been most satisfying, and even though they aren't a threat, I love it when we pound them. I'll be looking for, at minimum, a 65-poiont victory tonight; anything else will be disappointing.

* No offense intended to our Laker-fan friends here; just a little good-natured ribbing

Well, my prediction came a lot closer than I expected it to... good things. Kawhi looked amazing, and Murray was very impressive in limited minutes. Pau looked good as well. I WOULD like to see Kawhi's rebounding numbers beef up a bit, but that's just the stat junkie in me.

Perfect example of why constant practice and hard work is so important.

Kawhi is obviously a very gifted athlete but the amount of work he has put in, has led him to become an absolute superstar and there's still so much room for improvement.

Then take a look at Jonathan Simmons. He is more athletic, a better finisher at the rim, a better passer and playmaker off the dribble and has more natural and slick dribble, spins and drives.

But the work someone like Kawhi has done has made him almost roboticly consistent and his results are almost effortless at times.

Simmons (while still showing lots of improvement and now a very important role player for us) is the example of how it takes consistency to become great.

He has the tools, I just hope he keeps rounding out his skills because the flashes he shows are honestly up there with the top players in the game.

Excellent win. We dominated from start to finish.

Spurs have a lot of good players, which makes shining that much more difficult, but I give the coaching staff credit in how they use the matchups to their advantage. Also Mills and Ginobili need to pick it up. If they aren't going to make shots, then they need to be more willing defenders and facilitators in that second unit with Lee, Dedmon, Simmons and Bertans.
