GT: Spurs vs. Pelicans

When: 6:00 PM MT, Jan 27th 2017
Where: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans LA
Last game of this little road trip and it's definitely a winnable game. We can't be thinking about going home for the first time in a while and we need to focused and locked in. Hopefully Kawhi's hand is feeling better and he's good to go for this one.
The key to this one is going to be containing/stopping Davis. I'm guessing we'll see him and Dedmon matched up often so DeWayne needs to bring his A game.
Go Spurs!!

Anthony Davis may not even play because of him re-injuring his thigh last night. Hoping he doesn't (selfish me).

The dailies list Davis as 'probable' for tonight, so we'll see; I don't know if I'm going to be able to catch the game, but if I do, I hope he plays, as I haven't been able to see much of him this season. Kawhi's listed as 'questionable' for tonight.

I said it earlier in the season a few times but Leonard just doesn't get in the same offensive rhythm when Parker is out there.
Half time - sloppy half. Our interior defense is pathetic.
Leonard obviously rusty but being troubled with Davis' presence on D and taking some really bad shots.
Aldridge and Lee working hard on the glass. Great to see.
Parker still looking for his own shot way too much. Started the third quarter a bit selfish imo.

I still think Parker is being told by coaches to play that way.
Big news:I finally saw Danny Green make a wide open three....

Yeah but Green also airballed one as well.
Kawhi was really bad at times tonight. 6-16, bad reads on defense, bad reads from double teams and bad shot selection.
Aldridge 6-20, struggled with the pressure of Davis as well.
Bertans was great but overall the team just didn't show up.

Game finally turned on Parker air-balling a WIDE OPEN three and Holiday coming the other way and drilling a three. Game over.

Tony dribbling the ball for 10 seconds just to play a 2 man game or to find an open lane to the point only to get blocked... Gotta stop.

Spurs shot 38% from the field, Pelicans 51%, even higher in the 2nd half. Spurs defense was the reason for the loss.

pels are always such a difficult match up for the spurs, cannot for the life of me work out why this keeps on happening.

I've said it for years, we struggle against shot blockers. Go back through Tony Parker's career and you'll see his worst games come against big guys who protect the paint. And since Robinson retired we've never really had someone for our own guys to practice against that sort of pressure (Duncan averaged a lot of blocks but he didn't have the same impact and fear that Robinson did).
Aldridge could barely get a shot off against Davis in his 6-20 and Kawhi got almost nothing inside or even close range in his 6-16.
