should be a gimme-game against the new-look(?) Kings, who have lost five in a row and are ever-struggling to find an identity (even more so in the post-Cousins era). Former Spur Garrett Temple, who's done a yeoman's job off the bench this season, is day-to-day with a hamstring injury; other than that, both squads should be at full strength (though it won't be shocking if Pop rests some of our regulars).
Rudy Gay is the big defensive concern here, but I'm not sure that threat will be enough to keep Pop from limiting Kawhi's minutes in what will likely be a fairly one-sided game. Then again, we've seen several games against struggling teams come down to the wire lately, so we may get another hyper-clutch performance from the man who seems to be gaining MVP traction every day.

Sammy. Rudy Gay is out for the year since January he teared his achilles tendon, Garrett Temple will be good to go, he was playing last game. I just hope i'm gonna enjoy Skal, Buddy and Willie Cauley a lot tonight.

Thanks for the correction! I completely forgot about Gay's injury, and when I looked over the injury report dailies, it wasn't listed (since they only list rotating injuries), so I wasn't mindful of it when I wrote this up. Apologies, all!
Good call on the guys you'll be watching, though. This is the time for SAC to let the young guys stretch their legs and get as much burn as possible. Good luck tonight!

Still not gonna happen, because it looks like Joerger doesn't like to play youngsters. He is still rolling heavy minutes with Afflalo, Lawson, Collison and other veterans.
I just want to see my main man Bertans to get some burn tonight.

So agree on the Bertans comment. Great game for him to start imo. Rest Gasol, Aldridge, and Parker. Send out Kawhi and the kids.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a few of the older fellows rested tonight. But either way this should be a win for us, we're only 2.5 back of the Warriors now.

No Kawhi and LMA makes this one interesting. Bertans and Slo-mo better bring their A games.

I'm entirely being selfish. Spurs without Kawhi don't keep me as engaged as in year's past. Stupid superstar withdrawal syndrome.

I feel ya. It is nice to see some of the younger guys get some minutes though.

Why are they resting those guys when so close to the Warriors? The Kings are not playing all that bad, losing by one to the Jazz in their last game.

Our schedule has been a bit hectic over the last week or so and tonight is the first night of a back to back for us. Guessing Pop's wants to keep those two fresh for the Thunder tomorrow night.

I'm with you, and I'm typically a pro-rest guy, so I get Nolan's point too. The thing is, isn't all that resting throughout the year so that you can really push it in just such a situation as this?
Regardless, we should win this one handily. Our defense is just so much better when Kawhi sits.

I can see Aldridge, being a little older, but Kawhi seems like it wouldn't bother him much to play in back to backs.
It seems they should at least suit up and play some if needed. I just don't understand not having really good players at least available to play.

Yea they are both coming off back to back 40+ minute games, so it's not totally unnecessary.
I've never really thought about it before, but I wonder if players would rather miss a game entirely than play reduced minutes. Sounds un-Spursy, but it's kind of a reasonable compromise between player goals and team goals.

I guess that's true, considering it hurts your player averages. It just doesn't seem like a 25 year old would need to do take games off.

Our top 2 scorers sitting and Danny Green continues to play like......Danny Green. He is just completely useless offensively.

Besides Danny Green being soo unbelievably bad, my other observation is, Thank God David Lee is on this team!

Green and Anderson on the floor at the same time makes me want to turn the game off, honestly.....
Mills and Lee are the only ones playing decent.
