No Structural Damage to Kawhi's Ankle

Kawhi Leonard has no structural damage to his injured left ankle after undergoing an MRI.

Leonard is unlikely to play in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. The San Antonio Spurs have historically been cautious when dealing with injury issues, famously shutting down Tim Duncan in the 2000 playoffs.

The Spurs will likely start Jonathon Simmons in Leonard's absence.

It's been mentioned in the GT already but it's good news deserving of it's own thread.

Hopefully he'll be good to go for game 3.

Thank heaven. He'll likely try to get after it in G3, though having now been through this twice in his last two games, he's unlikely to be 100% not only because of its ongoing tenderness and sensitivity but because he's going to be hyper-aware of it, which will cause him to play differently.

This whole thing is win/win for us long-term, in spite of how much it obviously hurts us short-term. We came into this series on house money, so we'll either pull off an all-time upset or our guys will be galvanized by the experience of trying to topple Goliath, which will only benefit us going forward. With Tony's prognosis extending into next season, Mills and/or Murray will be the PG core; Aldridge needs to be awakened and revitalized; and Simmons is emerging before our eyes. The whole situation has massive positive implications beyond the season for us.
