G A M E D A Y: Spurs (35-21) @ Dubs (42-13), 730PM Central

WHERE: ORACLE Arena, Oakland, CA
TV: ABC
VEGAS: O/U 218, GS -11

Is it the biggest game of the year? Well, probably not; depending on who you listen to, the Warriors are either coasting or struggling, and the Spurs remain mired in injury hell. A Saturday night tilt against the champs is always exciting, but with Leonard, Gay, Parker, and Murray all sitting for the good guys (plus heaven-knows-who-else-- it's Pop, after all), all we can hope for is a competitive game-- and if the basketball gods feel playful, maybe an upset.

(NOTE: I just found this image online; the Warriors do not actually suck. At all.)

We cant keep up with their scoring for 48 minutes. You need 120 plus to have a chance to win against them and we aren't capable of that right now, even if they don't play defense.
Sure we can muck the game up and slow it down but us scoring our usual 90 points isn't going to win against this team.

Unless we have 1 or 2 guys play out of character and score in volume (Forbes, Bertans. Murray for example) we have no chance.
Honestly I don't really care at this point. We just need to get guys some experience and maybe something to build on for later when we are possibly healthy. A good butt-whippin might do that.

This is more of a discovery game IMO. Can one of our role players step up and try to contain Curry or Durant just a little? So that when Leonard and Gay are back we arent relying 100% on them?
When we aren't relying on Aldridge for offense, can someone, ANYONE try to make some consistent offense and create their own shot against a good opponent?
Can we try to stop turning the ball over like crazy for no reason against a good team maybe? That is what I'm looking for tonight.

I'll be watching Anderson, Mills (typically play well against GS), and Forbes/Paul to make an impact off the bench.

Bertans is an x-factor, but he'll either be overwhelmed and be a negative, mostly, or will be a reliable shooter and active on defense around the paint. Hopefully the latter.

Hopefully Dra. Green doesn't get away with too much crap. Hoping he gets ejected again, honestly.

Be a huge win tonight and would provide some nice momentum and confidence going along the trip into the all-star break soon.

Well, another game of next Spur up. So be it. We do have guys who can step up and do step up. I'd love to see what Paul, Hilliard and White can bring in more minutes (assuming they get more with two of our PGs not playing). I like their moxie. Tonight is no litmus test of anything with so many key players out, so it's no more or no less important than any of the other 26 games left.

We know we need to play the right way no matter which Spurs get court time; we know what we need to bring to this game.

GO SPURS!!!

mills has been decreasing as a player every year, why is this clown still on the team, he serves no purpose when he cant hit open shots, chucks up a shot out of nowhere for bricks, cant defend anyone....refs dont buy into him taking charges or running into screens bs.

same as forbes as above.... he looks loss on defense man, he hustles alot but that serves no purpose if u cant chase down ur man cause u left him open or ran under/over a screen yet the player still drills one in ur face cause ur a midget

hillard needs more minutes, has size but small wingspan does hurt him, but most shots his taken his nailed them, doesnt do anything stupid out there on the court....think his better then white/bp3...should be moving up the rotation for more minutes....

anderson had a good game, but needs to be more aggressive attacking the rim or pulling up on in his range...his to creative with the ball when attacking to be passing the ball for a crap player bricking a shot...

Well that didn't work out well, other than Anderson, who played well as expected most of them all... Forbes and Mills were awful and their lack of size hurt against the Warriors length on the wing. Felt the defensive pressure as well I think.

Derrick White was impressive handling the ball and defensively a number of times (two or three great stops in transition).

Game went about as expected... third quarter late, took it over.

Yes it went somewhat how I expected as well. Even with the big lead early I never felt we had any chance of winning that game.
We just cannot score consistently enough to beat a team like that. Fortunately there are only 2 teams in the league that can score that way. (GSW and Houston)

Mills as usual, plays his worst when we need him to step up the most. He has quickly become my least favorite player on this team next to Lauvergne. At least Pop only gave him 18 minutes and didn't force the issue.

Forbes was useless but this has been what Ive been saying about him all along. Ive watched him up close all through college and now here. This is exactly what he is. He can play like an all star one night and totally disappear the next. There is no consistency from him and no rhyme or reason as to why. Its not the opposition. I wouldn't have been surprised at all if he scored 30 last night against GSW and then put up zeros against Atlanta the next. He just cannot be relied upon. Plus when he cant score he cant do anything else well. Go back and look at games where he scores well. He usually plays better defense also and contributes in other areas besides scoring.

Anderson was steady. If you ask me, he is the Spurs MVP this year if we didn't have LMA. He has learned to be productive weather he is scoring or not.

It was nice to see Hillard and White get some run. It was a great experience for them and they handled it decently. A great learning game for them.

Bertans played ok but he is still passing up shots he should take.

Danny Green was horrible but with all the injuries we had to take him out of his element again and you can tell he is uncomfortable taking too many shots. He has been better at going to the hole this year but everyone in the league knows he is not going to hurt them doing that.

LMA was steady as usual but he couldn't do everything and the Warriors started double teaming him.

Gasol had been playing pretty well lately but I understand trying to get Bertans more minutes. Maybe Gasol's injury is bothering him also?

Ginobili was great and as usual, can step up when needed. Unfortunately he cant play heavier minutes anymore.

I'm not mad or upset and I don't hate Mills. This game was a good learning experience for everyone.
