GT: Spurs (35-24) vs. Nuggets (32-26)

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Feb 22, 2018 5:25 pm

When: 7:00 PM Feb 23rd, 2018
Where: Pepsi Center, Denver CO

First game back after the break! Everyone should be nice and rested and ready to go for this including Rudy apparently!

This is going to be a tough game though, Nuggets schooled us before the break and we can't let that happen again. Key to this is going to be controlling the pace, we can't let the Nuggets run all over us and we cannot let Jokic torch us in transition.

Go Spurs!!

Decent first half, didn't catch all of it but from what I saw we looked pretty solid offensively. But we were struggling a bit to keep guys in front of us.

Ugh Bryn just cost a couple buckets there. Poor rotations.

Yeah I think on one of them he and Rudy didn't communicate on a switch.

We missed 11 free throws. The game is about all plays adding up, but... eleven.

Anyway, I loved our resilience and fight tonight. Some great signs, just need to reward ourselves with wins. Heads high, though there are things to clean up and improve, we are playing noticeably better.

Yeah that was a fun and we made a great run at it in the closing minutes but like you said missed free throws really killed us.

I know we don't have many other options right now but I really hate our two PG lineups especially when it's Patty and Tony playing together. They can just not hold their own defensively and the offensive boost they give us doesn't even come close to compensating for those defensive short comings.

I actually thought that Patty played great D last night, and though we didn't do the Hobbit line-up as in the previous game, overall I agree with your two PG assessment. It just depends on which two it is. Patty's also being asked to play 1,2 and sometimes 3 so it's such a difficult adjustment to not get settled in a role for so much of a season. He's done what has been asked of him. Sometimes he's off, last night he was great on both ends. We looked a lot more resilient and rejuvenated team overall. We didn't get the win, so obviously there are some things to work on, but better that those are about play on the court and not about heart and perseverance.
