Devin has also been stepping up to provide help for the community. He previously had a peanut butter drive to help food insecure families and now he is helping to provide coats for kids. Love it!

A slightly different aspect of community help, but true to Pop's commitment to social justice and broad relationships with players beyond the court:

Civil rights leader Andrew Young eager to meet Spurs’ Gregg Popovich

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was excited to learn last week that former U.N. ambassador and civil rights leader Andrew Young will be at Tuesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors....

Young, 89, will have a busy night at the AT&T Center, where he will help the Spurs kick off their celebration of Black Heritage Month.

Before the game, Young will headline a panel of private guests that will include Ayanna Brooks, a 16-year-old sophomore at Madison who has gained attention as a “strong advocate for giving students the tools needed to fight discrimination, racism, homophobia and inequitable gender-based dresses codes in schools,” according to information provided by the Spurs.

Young will also receive a jersey from the team and is scheduled to meet with players after the contest to discuss his days as a leader in the civil rights movement.

In addition to talking basketball, Young might also have a conversation with Popovich about the battle over voting rights that’s being played out in the Congress and state legislatures across the nation....

Politics aside, Young is happy he’s getting to watch a game between what he called two of his favorite teams led by two coaches he said he greatly admires, Popovich and Golden State’s Steve Kerr.

“The Spurs,” Young said, “have always been a team of gentlemen, and I imagine that’s what they get from coach Popovich.”

Catching up on our players' community works. Back to Devin who is increasingly getting involved in more causes. Here he helped out with the Spurs Youth Clinic:

I just want to give them some type of motivation.”

Dev awarded 3 kids from the local @bgcsanantonio with a signed pair of kicks during a recent Spurs Youth Basketball Clinic.

These kids were chosen for demonstrating strong character on and off the court through teamwork, dedication, and a good attitude this SYBL season

Lonnie organized a charity golf tournament with proceeds benefiting his Lonnie Walked Foundation:

On Saturday, The Lonnie Walker IV foundation hosted his 1st annual golf tournament at the River Bend golf course in Floresville, TX....

Corey Kemp, Lonnie’s business manager, spoke to poundingtherock.com about the event “Our motto is help us help other’s. All of the money we raised today, we are putting back into the San Antonio Community. Lonnie’s core values are mental health, child and family abuse, education, the elderly, and youth sports. We are always willing to give back to the local community in regards to Lonnie’s core values.”
