Popovich to deliver shoes to needy kids
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is scheduled to give new shoes to all of the students enrolled at the San Antonio School District's Pershing Elementary on Monday through a donation to Shoes that Fit.

Shoes that Fit selected each pair of sneakers after measurements were taken from each student. More than 95 percent of the students at the East Side School are economically disadvantaged.

Shoes that Fit is a national nonprofit organization based in Claremont, Calif. Last year, it delivered new shoes to more than 120,000 children in 2,300 schools across 45 states.

About Elf Louise Christmas Project:
Louise Locker with Santa Clause

The Elf Louise Christmas Project is dedicated to providing a little bit of joy to Bexar County’s less fortunate children....

The project began in 1969 when our founder, Louise Locker, was a student at Trinity University in San Antonio. She found that for many San Antonio families, Christmas just did not exist. Louise began to look for a way to provide a few Christmas presents to some of these children. That first year, with the help of a friend, she collected gifts for children in 13 families.

About WISH for OUR HEROES:
WISH for OUR HEROES (W4OH) is a national 501(c)(3), dedicated to assisting the men and women of the United States active-duty military, and in some cases, Veterans.

WISH for OUR HEROES started with the goal of providing one wish for every deserving military member. There are no requirements – military members simply had to be on active-duty at the time the wish is submitted. The priority is to always grant basic needs or emergencies first – anything from putting food on the table to assisting with car repairs, home repairs, baby supplies, clothing, etc. When basic needs are met, W4OH also enjoys providing fun things like sending the troops to athletic events, sending them on vacation to get re-acquainted after deployments, meeting celebrities and more.
