Not sure if Jakob is ready for a starting role to be honest, but with Pau clicking with the second unit and us needing someone more mobile with against their C, I guess it's trial by fire. I hope, of course, he and we do well:

I kind of like it actually. If he is on the floor with Aldrdge and DeRozan he won't need to score much. He can concentrate more on defense, rebounds and moving the ball. I think that will work better for him at this point.

Pau fits in nicely with the second unit and it will keep his minutes down so we can use him more at the end of games if necessary. Although he and Aldridge together isn't good defensively

This is also Forbes moment to shine, just as it was White's in the pre-season. I hope he is aggressive and doesn't let the game run him over like he tends to let happen in the past.
If he is to amount to anything in this league other than a small bit player, it needs to happen now.

Jakob said he was learning different sets on both units, and Pop said he's absorbing the info well and is a great teammate. Perhaps I was too harsh on him during pre-season games as he's got a lot to absorb in a short time with a whole new system.

I agree with you that he's doesn't need the ball what with LMA, DeMar, and Rudy out there, still Pau is an excellent facilitator (which he'll use with the second unit) and we know he's got great chemistry with LMA. Plus Pau has range to keep defenders honest which creates space for LMA. It's an important role - not one that Jakob can't fill, but as of now, it's hard to replicate as is that certain comfort level guys develop with each other over time.

I wasn't sure Jakob would start also because we've already got basically three new other starters! It's just LMA from last season. Wow that's a lot to adjust to in a short time. We'll grow, but there'll need to be some chemistry building on the fly.

It's great that Jakob has Pau and Timmy teaching him. If anything can expedite the learning curve, surely that's it.

I wouldn't have a problem with Pau starting. However, I think he is more valuable right now with the 2nd team just for ball movement purposes and we will need Poeltl's defense and athleticism on the first team for now. Especially with losing Murray's defense and rebounding.
