The champs have been champ-like lately, which would bode tough even if the good guys weren't running a skeleton crew tonight, but with LaMarcus and DeMar both sitting for rest and load-management and Derrick White dealing with right-foot plantar fasciitis, this is one of those nothing-to-lose games. Pop's been known to get good things out of his players in games like these, though, so maybe we're looking at an upset.

That's a kind and positive way to put it, getting the most out of depleted line-ups - I like it. With three starters out tonight, we'll get plenty of opportunities to squeeze the absolute best out of active Spurs. Really I hope we compete well and use this game as an opportunity to run our sets and reinforce good habits. Do these, and you never know what could happen. Basketball gods are ever watchful.

I'm mindful of the game in Miami some years ago (during the LeBron era) which Pop held Timmy, Tony and Gino out of-- our fourth game in five nights, all on the road, and Miami coming off several days of rest-- and which we almost won anyhow. 'Any given Sunday', as the saying goes! Go Spurs!

I feel like that might have been a "Here's your 'rest' fine" game, and if it wasn't, I bet Stern just waited for the next best opportunity, which the Spurs no doubt obliged.

We'll have to amend tonight to "any given Wednesday."

One actual starter in the first unit tonight. LOL
