PLAYOFFS, BALA! WCQF, GAME 7: SPURS AT NUGGETS, 27-4-2019, 9PM (CT)

Post#1 » by G R E Y » Sat Apr 27, 2019 5:14 pm

Deep breath. And here we are facing the final first round task before us. Look back or ahead and we miss the moment and the opportunity it presents. Being present for every play and every rebound, and taking advantage of every slither of a chance, however slight it may seem at that time - these will all add up favourably.

We play our best when we are mindful to execute well on both ends: Communicating and rotating smartly to close out well and prevent shots, generating defense to offense flow so we move and make crisp passes for good to great made shots from all ranges, hustling for every loose ball, and closing quarters strong.

All the heart, focus, determination, resilience and perseverance we can muster to navigate the ebb and flow of the game counts. Auspicious results sometimes happen mysteriously, but we must tend to what is in our domain; playing the right way when it matters most resonates. Let's give it all we've got, now, together.

They didn’t turn up for most of the game sadly.

But competed hard all season and deserve a pat on the back after being written off yet again.

Derozan would be a totally different player with a three point shot. It’s his own fault for not changing this. I doubt he stays in SA because of that fact.

I’d start Murray and White and have Forbes be the 6th man.

Mills needs to go or retire.

I haven’t been high in Poeltl and still aren’t. No offensive skill whatsoever and really needs to be like a last guy off the bench type player.

Summer priority, just get rid of Mills, he's becoming a problem.

Hell of a year, hell of a game, hell of a series. This never feels good, but the better team won. We made them earn it, though, and I'm proud of that.

Raps fan watching from afar. A healthy Dejounte, who I wanted picked instead of Siakam (LOL), will go a long way to improving this team's chances. I give Pops credit for trying to play to Derozan's strengths and embrace the "long two's" as long as they were good opportunities and he upped his efficiency. Derozan can drain corner threes but he suffers from two significant brain frets. One, he hesitates on releasing long balls or fails to make the better pass read for someone else with a better look. The second is his penchant to try to drive through a wall of bodies from a standing position. In other words he pretty much sucks offensively in the half court because of his lead footwork from a standing position. Play to Derozan's strengths and let him run and shoot jumpers and corner threes and you have a player. Big fan of Poetl. Big fan! Oh and credit needs to be given to getting the best out of Forbes and White. Rudy is on the down slope IMHO. Good luck with our pick and I hope you luck out on a Paskal Siakam. Siakam and Poetl are like best friends. Jakob needs to work out with Siakam in the summer like Siakam did scrimming against Westbrook.

I'm probably one of the few Raptor fans that think Demar can be an important piece on a Championship.

He just isn't first option material.

He probably needs to have that person who takes the pressure off of him. The guy can slash so maybe an off ball threat.

Notice Derozan in the Red Green dinner jacket. It has a We The North logo on it. 8-)

Well said, and agreed.

People will write them off again next year, overlooking the young talent they don't know because they weren't Media'ed up, and then overlooking and forgetting the Spurs system and Pop, because 4 months of summer went by and haven't seen them play in awhile... and will be back at same spot next year before the POs, somewhere.

Offseason seeks, randoms..:

Definitely have to get more size and length defensively at SF other than Gay (bench), and shake up the bench offense a little bit. Bertans/Mills/Belinelli is a flawed trio... Forbes should replace Mills in the rotation off the bench.

Move Walker in, force him in, let him be a spark plug and make some mistakes. Get a 3/D SF with some experience but not too old.

Forbes/Walker IV/Belinelli/vet scorer/3-D SF/Big (Metu??) --- hopefully new bench looks like this

Mills/Pondexter or Cunningham can be 3rd string and spot players.. willing to bet Cunningham will look to go elsewhere for more time though.

Poetl/DeRozan -- develop 3P further for DeMar (he shot them more in Toronto, but isn't a strength so didn't here), and Poetl should develop one.

Not worried about Walker/White/Murray or Aldridge or Forbes.

All the shooters can't be on the bench. More length and agility at SF outside of Gay (again).

I'd prefer not to see Bertans and Mills both in the rotation next year.

See ya'll at the draft and FA in July.
