A look back at highlights, improvements, and how we fared overall in a transition year.

It's safe to say that we exceeded early expectations, even more so given early injuries and starting line-up plug ins. It was a season of learning and implementing on the fly with little room in between to blend a lot of new and different pieces.

I do feel we went out in some combination of not with a bang but a whimper mixed with the compete level coming alive in the final game, and will address nagging concerns I have about some things that were seeping in in that series. For now, in many ways that final Game 7 was emblematic of the peaks and valleys of our season on the whole.

I'll post some favourites of the season and achievements deserving extra attention along with looking at some patterns that didn't help us that we have to change.

OVERALL: 48-34
Home: 32-9
Road: 16-25

OCT: 5-2
Home: 3-1
Road: 2-1

*NOV: 5-10
Home: 3-3
Road: 2-7

DEC: 11-5
Home: 9-1
Road: 2-4

JAN: 10-5
Home: 6-2
Road: 4-3

*FEB: 3-7
Home: 2-0
Road: 1-7

MARCH: 10-4
Home: 7-2
Road: 3-2

APRIL: 4-1
Home: 2-0
Road: 2-1

*Not coincidentally, the two mostly overlapping months which Derrick missed due to injury.

PTS/G: 111.7 (18th) Opp PTS/G: 110.0 (12th) (Previous season: PTS/G: *102.7 (27th) Opp PTS/G: **99.8 (1st) )
Off Rtg: 112.9 (7th) Def Rtg: 111.2 (19th) (Previous season: Off Rtg: 107.9 (17th) Def Rtg: 104.8 (3rd) )

* & ** - Big differences in the numbers on both ends. By contrast, *Bucks led this season's PTS/G with 118.1. Last season, the Warriors were tops with 113.5 which this season would have put them 11th. **Pacers led this season's Opp PTS/G with 104.7 which last season would have put them 10th. Huge scoring shift this season, especially early, due broadly to rule changes, roster changes, style of play, among other factors. It seems that by the end of the regular season and into the playoffs, teams and team D have adjusted and there's more of a D and O balance. Thank goodness.
