Yes and yes. The acknowledgement is nice, and though over time we can take it for granted, it points to all the work behind the scenes:

Popovich voted No. 1 coach by NBA general managers
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich once again received some major love from NBA.com’s annual survey of the league’s general managers.

For the eighth time in the past nine surveys, Popovich was named best coach by 55 percent of the respondents. He also repeated as the NBA’s best motivator with 41 percent of the vote.

With the great news of Dejounte signing an extension, there was still some business with a Monday deadline, so here's where we are with a couple of other players:

I wish we could have signed Jakob to an extension, but the market for his services and his comfort level with the team both bode well for us. It's also not a surprise that we stood pat with LMA given he's guaranteed for this year and we have some flexibility for the final one the following season.

We had until the summer, but we took care of business with LaMarcus. Well worth it on many fronts:

Gump is right, LMA does look trimmer, and he's been busy putting in the work over the summer. It's smart, I think, to go a bit leaner as you get older, but that aside, getting ready for a season with guards that can play a more uptempo game in transition which I think we'll do more this season:

The impact of LMA's contract down the road still puts us in an optimal position for the future. Barring trades, 2020 was not going to be a big FA draw, but we're positioned well for 2021:

On the one hand, I respect the initiative and honouring vets with the camo jersey. On the other, exploring other options has long been asked for by fans. While we wait for the latter, these are a cool expanded collection as a final tribute to the camo:
Read on Twitter

On the other, there's also this:
To thank those who have served and continue to serve, and to celebrate the team’s final year wearing camo-themed Nike City Edition Jerseys, the Spurs and USAA delivered personalized military appreciation jerseys to various active military units, local veterans, and veteran-serving nonprofits in advance of the game.

https://www.nba.com/spurs/spurs-and-usaa-celebrate-nations-veterans-during-november-9-military-salute-night-game

Well now. I wonder if this means that the City Edition camo will no longer be used? I can't imagine Military City would stop using camos entirely, but now have hope that the future City Editions will be more Fiesta inspired. I support the camo jersey, but the possibility of more variety in addition to it is exciting.

Some news about the Spurs' progress in the pursuit of a new training complex that will benefit the team and the community:

San Antonio Spurs could get tax incentives to build new training facility near UTSA
The San Antonio Spurs want to build a new state-of-the-art training facility on the city’s Northwest Side — and could get public dollars to do it.

The Spurs are eyeing land at the northwest corner of Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 for the facility, officials said Thursday — near The University of Texas at San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the La Cantera and Rim shopping centers.

In recent meetings with city and county leaders, officials with the team laid out early plans for a campus that includes expanded training facilities as well as space for medical and research areas focused on sports medicine.

The Spurs currently practice at a 37,800-square-foot facility near the Medical Center off Huebner Road and Floyd Curl Drive that Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich lauded as the “best facility in the league” when it opened in 2002.

But the Spurs have “outgrown” their current practice facility in recent years, said Jenna Saucedo-Herrera, CEO of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation. The team has said it needs a new one to recruit and keep top players, she said.

Spurs officials plan to partner with the University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Texas Health Science Center and USAA to build out the campus’ medical and research components, Saucedo-Herrera said.

“This is way bigger than a practice facility,” Saucedo-Herrera said....

Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff and Spurs officials recently discussed a possible abatement on county property taxes for the new facility, Wolff said. But he said any award depends on whether the Spurs complex will add jobs and the size of the investment.

“It’s something I would support,” Wolff said of a possible tax abatement. “I think it’s a big step forward.”

Spurs coach eulogizes San Antonio’s Charline McCombs, calling her ‘iconic in her own right’
McCombs, 91, and her husband were at the heart of numerous major San Antonio projects and entities, including the Spurs, the Charline McCombs Empire Theater and many others....

Married in 1950 in Corpus Christi at a church founded by her great-grandfather, the couple recently had observed their 69th wedding anniversary.

“I’ve always said that from the day I realized I was a salesman, I have signed only one lifetime contract, and that was with Charline,” Red McCombs wrote in “Big Red: Memoirs of a Texas Entrepreneur and Philanthropist.”

Keen on sharing their wealth with worthy causes, the couple established the McCombs Foundation. The organization’s major emphasis has been on college scholarships for children of employees, women’s sports, cancer research and treatment.

The foundation has given more than $100 million to numerous organizations, including the United Negro College Fund, the American Heart Association and Girl Scouts.

Respect for each other was one reason for their successful marriage, McCombs told San Antonio Woman magazine.

“Things come up in life, but you have to be able to have fun together,” she said. “We enjoy each other, we laugh a lot, and both of us are very family-oriented.”

She added, “We have different but complementary personalities. My husband is very outgoing, enjoys interacting with people. I am more low-key. It’s good to have different personalities. It would be boring to be the same.”

In addition to her husband, McCombs is survived by their three daughters, Lynda, Marsha and Connie; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

That history comes to life with a bold fashion design that fuses ancient Indian imagery with contemporary street art.

The collection’s core design features a cave art-like pictograph of a long-necked water bird facing the spirit of a roaring panther with a fish over the source spring of the San Antonio River.

According to the Payaya creation story, the hungry water bird dove deep into a blue hole desperate for food in what was then a lifeless region. A blue panther spirit at the bottom of the hole gave the bird a fish, and the bird soared out with its wings spread wide, raining down droplets that pierced the earth to create the San Antonio River and bring life to the area.

The Spurs x Mills x Tap Pilam collection also incorporates art of the team’s logo alongside a water bird that bears the Tap Pilam name and a panther that bears Mills’ name and jersey number. Long-sleeve garments in the collection bear the words “People of the Earth.”
