As for some basketball related content, this was a good stat to see. Trey's made noticeable strides this season. I think we guarantee his contract for next year.

Also, it doesn't look as if Milutinov is coming over any time soon. If true, I guess it prioritizes re-signing Jakob. I read Milutinov was doing well in Europe and thought he wanted to play in the NBA. Not sure if it's a money issue or what, but read opinions that if he were sought after, either a trade would have been made or he would have already been brought over. Perhaps it's a case of his having a more traditional C game in an era where they're expected to spread the floor as well as have a presence down low.
Read on Twitter

San Antonio Spurs 2015 first-round draftee Nikola Milutinov has agreed to terms with CSKA Moscow in Russia. Sources told NBC Sports, Milutinov is signing a three-year deal with CSKA that has no NBA outs.

As a former draft pick playing outside of the NBA, the Spurs will retain Milutinov’s draft rights until he signs or they renounce his rights. San Antonio could also choose to trade Milutinov’s draft rights to another NBA team.

https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/04/13/spurs-2015-first-round-pick-nikola-milutinov-agrees-to-three-year-deal-with-cska-moscow/

Milutinov is a 7' C averaging 10/8, 0.6 blocks in 24 minutes per game, not shooting 3s at all. We get 5/5, 1.4 blocks per game in 16.6 minutes per game, not shooting 3s from Jakob. Milutinov does take FTs at a far better rate - 76.5% to Jakob's maddening 48.6% (?!), but that's really not enough of a difference maker given their other similarities. Sounds like each is where he belongs. We'll see how things develop.

Yeah. This doesn't sit well at. all. Before this season began, the Spurs guaranteed LMA's contract for next season when they didn't have to. Sure it took away any tension that might have otherwise arisen, but it was still a good-faith gesture on the team's part.

LMA's hardly been secretive about wanting to return to Portland (Lillard reportedly revealed details of one of their conversations saying as much). Now during these uncertain times, when people are in dire straits, when other Spurs players are encouraging fans to follow health guidelines and posting various messages of hope on social media, LMA has done none of it, instead posting:

Funny but true:

It's just unprofessional for a player under contract - a much bigger guaranteed one at that - to so readily and openly pine away for another team (to say nothing of the question of tampering - it was apparently Lillard--again--who took over Blazers twitter, but they sure deleted that tweet quickly. LMA didn't.)

Given he was here during the whole other drama, is a leader of the team, and at nearly 35 presumably mature, using social media so carelessly - or is it intentionally? - is disappointing and irritating. If you have something to say, LMA, man up and do it with the FO and in the meantime don't play these coy games with a FO that has done nothing but treat you respectfully, and Pop who reworked the style of play more around your game.

I gained so much more respect for how he shouldered and centered the team in 2018, and for all the community deeds he's participated in. But from 'that play' in game 7 of last year's playoffs to all this pining, these actions are really chipping away at it. Instead of reading the situation around the world, around the league, he put this thirst out there instead. Not the Spurs way.

He has a year left. If we get a good enough offer from whichever team, so be it. I hope the Spurs do what's best for the team and hold out for the best offer. Despite his signals (which he needs to zip because it may potentially hurt our negotiation position), he better remain a pro for however long he's with us. I'm just about done with the appeasement, but no need to reciprocate the rudeness. It's only polite to hold the door open.

And now on to something more positive and constructive from one of my favourite Spurs. A look into Patty's workout routine for physical health as well as mental and emotional well being. Witness this badassery!

Press play to get a glimpse of my at home hiatus workouts!!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣
More important than the movements, though - is mentality.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
No matter how much we miss being on the hardwood with our #SpursFamily - each morning, let’s all make a conscious effort to operate with perseverance, resilience and consistency.⁣⁣ We got this!

Cheers to the @spurs Performance Team for the equipment, programs and always finding ways to help develop and make us better.

San Antonio's Food Bank has been overwhelmed with nearly twice as many showing up in need of its services as had registered. Tough times. Volunteers put many extra hours of work in to serve everyone. Pop, one of the Food Bank's advisory board members, called the SAFB staff to offer words of encouragement and engage with them in a Q&A.

It's a fine deed, but also it's just nice to hear of something from Pop as we have with various other members of the Spurs Family so far.

With a 'very small part of minority ownership up for sale', what is most important is that the team is staying put in San Antonio:

EDIT to add:
The identity of the shareholder selling a piece of the team isn’t known, but the Express-News has learned the amount is minor and won’t impact the Holts or the way the team has operated for years under the family’s steady leadership.

As of 2016, the Spurs ownership group consisted of approximately 20 investors with shares ranging from less than 1 percent to the 40 percent owned by the Holt family. More than 10 of the shareholders in 2016 held shares of less than 2 percent, including Spurs great David Robinson.

Only a handful held shares of 7 percent or more.

In February, Forbes valued the Spurs at $1.8 billion, which ranked 14th among the NBA’s 30 teams and made the franchise one of the strongest among the league’s small-market clubs....

Forbes’ data showed an 11 percent increase in value for the Spurs after they were valued at almost $1.6 billion in 2018. The Spurs’ revenue is $285 million against a $66 million operating income, according to Forbes. In perhaps a sign of the franchise’s financial health, it hasn’t laid off, furloughed or asked any staffers to take a reduction in pay during the NBA’s coronavirus-forced suspension of play that began March 11.

How the Spurs have stayed together while apart. Good read:

The team meals have not been canceled. In fact, they’re more important now than ever.

Nobody in NBA history has placed more value on the ritual of breaking bread and sharing wine than Gregg Popovich, and not even a pandemic can change that. More than once during the past month, all of the Spurs’ players and coaches have gathered around the same virtual lunch table, and the only problem with the videoconference is it makes it harder for Popovich to pick up the check.

The Spurs still aren’t much for doing interviews. They’ve kept a lower profile than just about any team in the league since the season hit the pause button. But privately, members of the organization have gushed about the steps taken to preserve both productivity and morale, and Buford explained it the same way to his online audience as he has to his employees.

Every Monday and Friday, there are hour-long calls for department directors and above, setting up and reviewing the workweek. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the leadership group meets. And every Wednesday, the Spurs host a virtual town hall for more than 400 staffers in San Antonio, Austin and around the world.

In between those meetings, the Spurs have instituted virtual happy hours, virtual book clubs, and virtual workouts, in which players are subjecting their bodies to identical exercises while “giving each other the business.”

So David Robinson participated in the "All In Challenge - Providing food for those in need - kids, elderly, frontline heroes".

It was an auction to bid for a Spurs Game Suite Party with David Robinson. WOW!

The winning bid not only gets to watch the game with 14 friends in David's box, but also watch warm-ups, receive a wooden carving from The Admiral AND a meet and greet with Pop, Timmy, and RC!

The winning bid was at least $120,000. Alas, it was not me

But good for everyone involved for raising so much for such a good cause.

Best to be safe and do it right through all the steps along the way:
Read on Twitter

The NBA remains on track to sanction the voluntarily return to team practice facilities starting Friday in states that allow it.

The Spurs, however, appear poised to keep their facility closed for now, operating out of an abundance of caution.

“We’re going to make that decision as we get more information, as we have more data around our own local environment as well as the national environment, and doing what we can to create a safe place for the team to come back together,” Spurs chief executive officer R.C. Buford said last week.

“We’re not putting any dates on it. It’s going to be more (about) how we get the information we need to be comfortable.”

Among the safeguards that must be in place for teams to return: Only four players are allowed in the gym at once; group workouts and scrimmages remain forbidden; and head coaches and assistants are prohibited from attending.

Players and staff would be required to stay at least 12 feet apart. There can only be one player and one ball per basket and everyone must wear protective masks while not participating in physical activity. All workout equipment — including basketballs — must be sanitized after each use.

The NBA said it will continue to bar players from using public gyms and fitness centers, even if their team facilities remain shuttered.

The majority of Spurs players have remained in the San Antonio area since mid-March, Buford said.

On the question of when the Spurs might allow them to return to the practice gym, Buford said the team will consider the state’s guidelines, while also listening to city officials.

“State and community guidelines aren’t always the same,” Buford said. “We’ll be reviewing those with the data we have.”

The tricky part is that with all 22 teams playing eight games, they will have played a different amount of games to end the regular season. I don't understand how the NBA will navigate that going forward.

Ugh. This team sucks and this whole money-grab situation is stupid.
Now we are going to have 2 asterisk seasons instead of one because all anyone cares about is money and not basketball.
Not to mention what happens when someone gets hurt doing this nonsense.

We are 4 games behind with 8 to play so there would be almost zero chance anyway. What of we lose are first 2 games? Then we play 6 more even more meaningless games for no reason. Even if a miracle happened and we leapfrogged 4 teams to make a playoff, this team isn't good enough to do anything. Unless our players somehow play really well in an empty gym and all other teams play poorly in empty gyms.

I would have rather just been left out of this.

Yeah it's a tricky balance majority of both players and owners want to go ahead and try to see if they can salvage this season however possible. There is the business side to consider, and that benefits both sides.Better for the cap and teams that hit the 70 game mark. Plus with so much of the season already played and some measure of competitive games created, I guess they think it would be a waste not to try. This seems to be the most equitable way in terms of teams who get to keep playing, and we happen to have positioned ourselves for it so I'm happy in that respect.

As for our chances, turns out from all the teams currently vying for the final playoff spot, we have the best record against the teams left to play. We were inconsistent to bad against bad teams, but fared better against the good ones. I think it bodes well.

At first I was infuriated he waited this long, but I think that's my critical stance towards LMA showing. Had he had the surgery as soon as the season was suspended, he would have missed the rest of the season anyway.

Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for LMA.

Onwards we go!

EDIT: Turns out he had it back in April. Ten days after his debacle of a twitter emoji comment about Dame wanting to play with him. Jesus. Yeah.

 Well DD was out protesting BLM in Compton without a mask on, so... I mean, hopefully he's safe and healthy, but risks like that are all the higher now.

Not sure whether we haven't seen LMA in his final Spurs game, we'll see. Unimpressed with his utter silence towards and about the team like all season long. Not sure whether he could have waited until after the season seeing as how he returned and played well. Perhaps it was a flare up post-game, I don't know, but something doesn't feel right. Anyway, I'm sure we've planned for all scenarios.
