Suggestions for Spurs content

Post#1 » by pmanzano » Wed Dec 16, 2020 2:52 pm

Hi all!

I'm looking to level up my Spurs fandom a bit. As a raptors fan, I've always loved Demar. So, I've always kept an eye on him in SA. But as I was watching him, the young scrappy roster kept me hooked. Looking to dive into SA a bit more and follow along. So I wanted to create a bit of a content list for myself.

So, what are your favorite blogs, pods, resources for news/stats? List some of them out and why they're worth checking out! I'll start with some of the ones I've like:

- Locked On Spurs (this one's okay.. looking for more suggestions here): https://open.spotify.com/show/6AQiaWJ6yDqDvLe66Oeg1f
- Pounding the Rock: https://www.poundingtherock.com/
- Halftime Hoops (news, discussion, stats): https://halftime.app.link/info

Looking forward to what you all suggest!

Hello Philip and welcome!

Some reading suggestions include three SA beat writers who are pros and quality writers - Tom Orsborn (@tom_orsborn) who's been at it the longest, good researcher; Jeff McDonald (@JMcDonald_SAEN) who slays it with logic and sarcasm, and Mike Finger (@mikefinger) who probably cares too much and it has made him a bit of a doom and gloomer (jk). They write for expressnews.com and mysanantonio.com

Jeff also has a podcast called Spurs Insider. You can check out the latest episode here:
Read on Twitter

Others you may want to check out for Spurs content are Tom Petrini (@RealTomPetrini) who contributes to kens5.com, JeffGSpursZone (@JeffGSpursZone) who contributes to news4sanantonio.com, and Ty Jager (@TheTyJager) who hosts At the Line Pod (link is on his twitter). They all provide additional details like breaking tweets about new Fiesta unis that help fill in the news gap between the articles. Good Spurs video interviews by Tom and Jeff, too.

As for stats, Dan Weiss (@DanWeissPBP) provides some good Spurs stats on his twitter, as does Paul Garcia (@PaulGarciaNBA) from Project Spurs.

Hopefully this is enough to help get you started. I'm sure I'm missing some info especially in the stats department. I'll add those when I can spend a bit more time with it.

Enjoy!
