GAME DAY, BALA! GAME 29: SPURS VS. PELICANS, 27-2-2021, 7PM (CT)

Post#1 » by G R E Y » Sat Feb 27, 2021 7:10 pm

We're home in familiar surroundings for a four-game stretch with a reinforcement returning tonight. We'll take all the manpower and time to gel we can get so having extra players and practices are positives. The challenge is coming together quickly and filling in for the guys whose return we still await. Until then, we must stay resilient and carry the load, each player tapping into reserves and giving more than ever before to stay even keeled until we're all back again.

I'm happy to have DeMar back but I'm honestly surprised that he's back so soon. Some people need the work and the camaraderie to get through difficult times.

I'm afraid Zion Williamson is going to destroy us without Keldon Johnson. I'm hoping Lyles can slow him down just a little.

Grey, if you remember I said before the start of the season that I would rather have Lonzo Ball than Murray. I'll be watching how they both do tonight for sure.

I suspect that it will be DJ, Lonnie, DeMar, Trey, Jakob starting. We'll see...

Don't know where this super-passive Zion came from but thats ok for tonight.

I've never seen him soo tentative. Maybe Lyles and Luka have him confused LOL

Shot making is a terrific antidote to ticky tack calls.

Man do we ever need DeMar. Terrific shot making and distribution. Just about everyone is shooting well except for Trey and Luka.

LMA looking great off the bench.

Nice to see Lonnie assertive and making his shots. We need him to keep stepping up.

DJ D to O is something special.

We need to keep driving at them and get them into foul trouble, keep making all our shots, keep collapsing well in the paint, and making sure we are grabbing all the D rebounds.

Nice to see Luka actually taking baby steps. He doesn't look 100% lost out there. Also nice to see Trey Lyles playing more like pre-pandemic Trey Lyles.

I've seen the Pelicans play about 15 times this year and I've never seen Zion soo confused.

Very proud of our will to win tonight! Struggled through some questionable calls and rebounding troubles, but our O was there well enough early and our D was good enough to pull through. Important win to stay ahead and keep our spirits up while we await reinforcements. Great team win!

p.s. Dejounte >>> Ball :D

That was one of those games where I never thought at any point we were going to lose. Especially they way Zion was playing.
I'll hand it to Murray. He is finally playing like he belongs in the league and he closed the gap between himself and Lonzo. He is clearly a better defender but Lonzo is still a better playmaker for others.
