Holy moly am I ever late with this one. Sooo many emotions still swirling inside. I still can't believe I'm here and got to witness Timmy's new Hall of Fame jersey unveiled after the game. I can only imagine how much more moving it was for those directly involved.
The game itself is largely forgettable. It doesn't count towards anything meaningful except for giving young guys a chance for some experience and growth.
Devin's a rookie with rookie inconsistencies, but Lonnie's - he didn't score today - are perplexing. He seems to have wide swings of good/mediocre play. They combined for zero made 3s as well.
We shot poorly from the 3 as a team again. If there's one aspect of the modern game I dislike it's the blitz from the arc. Hell why not just have players from both teams line up and take turns firing away from 30 feet.
I don't like the cheap carnival aspect of it when teams blast away from there but the reality is that even if we don't take many shots from there we must be more accurate; there's no arguing it's importance in the league and when we take so few it puts all the more pressure on out accuary. We must also be cognizant of rebounds. It sounds silly to point out, but there just wasn't a lot of boxing out throughout the game.
Sure we were depleted, but nothing stopped us from running back on D in transition. A ten-point lead quickly ballooned to over 20 which started on two consecutive, weak transition D's. Fundamentals on The Big Fundamental's day would have been nice. Something to work on in the next games.
