Good deal, solid back-up depth which is another area of need addressed. Very good off-season so far by PATFO and Brian Wright.
He fractured his foot in June, but projects very well once healed up: 23, 6'11", PF/C, shoots 3s:

Like basically taking a flyer on Collins who's just 23 and still has a ton of upside,if he can ever stay healthy at the very least gives you solid back up big and if things go well could be the starting center going forward into the future. To me low risk high reward type deal and also a deal that doesn't eat up the cap at all real moving forward.Even if he continues to get hurt at the price tag and his age should be very easy to trade.

So Collins broke his foot again in June?
https://www.nba.com/news/report-blazers-zach-collins-re-injures-footI didn't see this before. No I'm even more depressed about this team.....
Dude probably isn't going to play until at least 2022
Sorry Grey, I was too busy wiping tears away to see you mentioned the injury earlier.

It's a risk, but a relatively inexpensive one, and not a blind one:

I was surprised to see how much money Zach got. He sustained 3 severe foot/ankle injuries in a row. He hasn't played significant minutes since 2019.
He's shown flashes of being an elite defender, and he's a capable 3pt shooter, but what's this series of injuries going to do to him?

It's a fair question. The only thing we know as fans is that Spurs did their medical due diligence, spent only $7M of a ton of cap space on big upside, and only on three years. The latter is important as well as it's not a coincidence that both of our FA signings are for that duration - planning ahead.
Put another way, we have $16M invested in our 5 rotation, $17.6M if Drew Eubanks' contract for this season gets guaranteed. And we're not finished maneuvering yet. So it's a low risk, high reward type of move. We're in a good position to take that gamble.
