Well, a big transition point in our team just occurred and I'm sure it will take some time for the ripple effects to settle in. We inhale, exhale, and prepare for the next game as we do so. How we respond is important. Hopefully the energy of next wave of players who now get bigger roles infuses the team with a positive mindset and we can focus on the task at hand: D to O transition, ball, paint, and arc protection, good to great made shots. Important test tonight on this front end of a back-to-back. Ever onward.

1ST Q: SPURS 43

Well well well. This is a very solid start. We're actually shooting better from 3 than FTs, and we've made FTs at 71.4% on 5-7!

All starters have scored. Pop is mixing and matching line-ups so that we have some length to disrupt their shots.

But what stands out is that we're rotating really well and contesting, too.

Just need to grab D boards better.

They are scrambling and picking up the pace on us. We are also rushing finishes at the rim for missed bunnies. Just settle in. Win the 50/50 balls. Make sure plays.

2ND Q: SPURS 73

HAWKS 56

Well you know the basketball gods are with us when Jakob of all players makes a half court heave 3 to end the half. A THREE! It's actually a big shot for us, putting us up 17 rather than 14. I'm so glad he just took it.

Seems like it's the MO for us now - just take it. Don't hesitate. And for the most part it's working for us.

There are still some erratic ill-advised shots which have been too congested and too contested on the strong wide with open Spurs on the weak side, but they've been far and few.

D rebounding remains a challenge, gents. 28-17 overall for them including 12-3 on O boards.

I do like that we are rotating and contesting quickly - there are hardly open shots available. I also like that we have our hands up on D, especially effective on the perimeter to prevent easy passes inside. Our D is frustrating them. We MUST keep this up as they will surely look to pick up the pace and physicality.

We're driving well to get to the FT line - keep this up.

We can't rely on the torrid scoring to keep up - although should it, it's of course welcome, basketball gods! - we can control the solid D.

I like how we're communicating on both ends, gesturing where to go and when.

Yeah that was some **** call by the refs. Doug got fouled should have been an +1 situation instead of the side out. Then again we should have scored there. Instead we get called for O foul on a moving Jakob screen.

Then DJ goes into 'get me mine' mode as he tends to when we are up big and takes an ill-advised off his dribble 3 miss and they hit a 3 for a 6-point swing after we could have had 3 points on Doug's foul.

Pop irate yelling into the ref's ear, rightly.

But it's also up to us to play better and continue to move off ball and move the ball rather than taking **** early clock one and done shots we don't **** need.

Time and situation, DJ.

Let's get our focus and drive back on track.
